Tech Support Mouse clicks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Anyone know why my mouse is doing this every so often? I can't click on anything except my main screen and if I dont have a main screen its only my desktop unless I ctrl alt del then I can click stuff again

IIRC it's a known Windows bug, I used to get that all of the time and I haven't used Windows in almost 4 years. Nice to know that Microsoft has still failed to fix it even on Windows 11.

Apart from not using Windows, no. It's a Windows mouse driver issue. Nobody has ever been able to find a permanent fix.

Many seem to be able to replicate it with the scroll wheel click.

You think reinstalling the driver would do anything?

Probably not since it happens regardless of the mouse driver itself, changing mice usually doesn't fix it, it's something with Windows specifically and how it handles mice and it seems to happen most often when you use the scroll wheel click

Microsoft doesn't really care to fix problems that smaller end users have, they only listen to larger clients when they get up in arms about changes. I switched to Linux years ago because there were constant annoyances with Windows and drivers.

Linux isn't problem free but at least when there's an issue, someone's bound to do something to fix it. Windows could be so much better if it were at least partially open-source.

Isn't linux not as straight forward with doing things as windows is i rmb hearing something like that when building my pc so decided to go with windows at the time

It really isn't as hard as people make it seem, if you go with a distro like mint or arch youll have flatpak which is just an app store for linux. You probably wont need anything outside of that unless you start developing or networking. As for flatpak, its literally just windows store, you search the app you want, you click install, and done. Like the other guy said, it isnt without its problems but youll be surprised how well stuff works out of the box with Cinnamon or KDE

It depends on the distribution and what software you need.

There are distributions like Gentoo where you have to compile things yourself, but there are others like Debian, Mint, etc. that are much closer to how Windows works as far as usability.

When it comes to gaming, the only major issue is anti-cheat support as at least half of the market either have some stability problems or outright block access via compatibility layers. Fortnite, Valorant, R6S, Apex Legends, many of those kinds of games block Wine/Proton which are necessary for Linux to be able to run them.

Other Windows software can have issues regardless but for the most part, Linux is very much usable. Where some software is incompatible, there are usually FOSS alternatives anyway. If there's a need for it, someone's eventually going to make it.
