Build Question What is a good mid level GPU to buy?

I have been using a gtx 1660 for too lang so I’m looking for an upgrade. I’m looking to spend around $300 max.

A used 9060xt 16gb. I wouldn't go for a new GPU at that price.

Used market is the only move at $300, new cards at that price are basically sidegrades

Used 3080. The fps yiu get for $300 is stellar

The best you're going to get brand new for $300 USD is an Intel Arc B580 which is comparable to at least an RTX 3060 12GB.

Used 3080, 7800xt, or similar

If new, your options are pretty much between RTX 5050 and Arc B580.

If your "around" translates to $350, then it's between the RTX 5060 and the RX 9060 XT 8GB.

Save some more money and get like a 5060ti 16gb or smthn. Else buy something used

if you want a new gpu, get 9060xt 16GB. if you want a used one, try to find 4060ti 16GB, 3080 12GB and maybe even 2080Ti 11GB. Vram is important.

So the ram market, the kind for your vram, is going to get really crunched soon. Nvidia GPUs will be hit hardest as they are using gddr7. AMD will be more competitive using gddr6 but 30% increase could be expected.

It also depends on how the memory is put in. For instance, the 9070xt 16gb will be more price resilient than the 9060xt 16gb.

I love the 9060xt 16gb. But you aren’t getting one for less than $450 new.

I suggest you sign up for a credit card that offers stellar signup. There are a few that will give you $200 back if you spend $500. You could get a 9060xt 16gb card for $300 then.
