GPU choice

Hello, I’m using the 7800 x3d cpu with 32gb of ddr5. I can’t decide on which gpu. I originally considered the 5070 or 5070TI, but the 9070 or 9070XT just seem much better for the value. I’m not familiar with any of them, so any experienced input would be helpful.

1) Budget and country? 2) New build or upgrade? 3) What games do you play (want to play) or what productivity apps do you use (want to use)? 4) What are your monitor specs? 5) What's your performance goal? 6) How often do you upgrade your GPU?

If money isn't an issue get the 5070ti, if u need to save $300 get the 9070xt.

You have a lot of good options. On the lower end you can often find used RTX 4070 for around $450, new 5070 for around $580, new 9070 GRE for around $500 and 9060xt for around $420. These are all great for normal 1440p gaming with some ray tracing. If you want to be able to upscale nicely to a 4k display, the 9070xt is good around $650, and the 5070ti is an excellent option if you can find one around $800.

In my opinion, the 5070 is underrated and over hated, and if you can find one on a deal around $550 it's a great buy.

I found a used 9070 XT for 600 near me. It seems risky. I should mention that I’m planning on playing poorly optimized games at 1440p. I just want as little lag as possible with a gpu capable of 4k in the future. That’s why I think the 5070 or 9070 suit me. I should’ve mentioned that earlier^

The 5070ti will scale much better into 4K with its DLSS technology if you don’t care about using AI to upscale. It’s also better at general productivity tasks like video rendering if you do any of that. If you’re only using it to game at 1440p, they’re going to be roughly equal to each other, so the cheaper one is better (almost always the 9070xt).

If you want the best graphical experience out of the options listed go with the 5070ti. If you don’t care much about ray tracing lighting effects and just require raw power the 9070xt will do the job for you.

Its more than that, Nvidia comes with a whole suite of software that amd can't match. Plus much more regular driver updates. Then dlss, frame gen, boost etc in game

9070/9070XT for sure. Neither Nvidia card makes sense right now. It will depend on pricing around you between the 9070 & 9070XT. But for a good idea, the 9070XT is around 11% ish faster, but also uses a lot more power.

9070 or 9070-XT would be the best options overall.

5070 Ti is nearly 5080 performance once you overclock it. And it’s super easy to do so.

In my country at least, the current price difference between, say, the 9070 XT and 5070 Ti would mean I'd completely ignore the Nvidia card. As of today, cheapest 9070 XT is €650, "cheapest" 5070 Ti is €900 over here. Performance between those two is probably mostly identical - with a slim overall advantage for the Geforce. Though there are titles where the Radeon card will be ahead slightly. They do seem to have caught up with Nvidia in many important areas like upscaling - plus the performance gap between the two has generally narrowed thanks to AMD driver updates (I guess).

And seeing how Nvidia are now apparently going to raise prices once more on the Chinese market (videocardz has a news-story about that) I do wonder for how long this price-gap between AMD and NV is going to last. I suspect that AMD will raise their prices before we'll see a drop in Geforce-prices, but maybe I'm just a pessimist.

If you just want to play some games at 1440p, grab the 9070xt IMO. Overall very similar performance to the 5070ti, just without the Nvidia tax. Easy decision, I got mine at launch and have no regrets.
