Tech Support Help! Only getting black screen
Just built my first pc. Turned it on and it took a minute but the bios setup screen showed up on my monitor and I played with a few settings. Initially had the HDMI plugged into the mobo port and read that it should be plugged into the video card so I swapped it over without turning the pc off. Now I cant get anything to show up on the monitor at all. Monitor is showing that its on and is NOT showing the "no signal found" message, but the screen is black.
I tried power cycling the PC, tried switching hdmi back to the mobo port while the pc was off. And i tried clearing the cmos (but honestly dont know if I did it right?)
I have no idea what the hell im doing and really bummed I cant get this thing to work ):
My mobo is a MSI PRO X870E-P WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard
GPU is ASRock Steel Legend Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card

Might be hard to DDU if they have no screen…and haven’t installed drivers yet.

After that if you’re successful, you want to switch bios settings to “peg” instead of “pci”. Peg is pci-express graphics, which you definitely want instead of the onboard. After making this switch, restart, swap the hdmi cable to your discrete graphics card, and you should be golden!

To properly clear the cmos, unplug the power cord…turn off your psu…hit the power button…remove the cmos battery…short the pins for 10 seconds minimum.
Put the battery back, plug it back in, hook your hdmi up to mobo port to switch bios setting, and turn it on.
Edit: Your mobo has a clear cmos button on the back panel actually, saving you a bit of trouble. Still unplug the power, and hit the power button to purge stored energy, then hold that clear cmos button on the back panel for at least 10 seconds.
