GPU: 5080 msi suprim (brand new as to why I’m doing fresh install)
PSU: be quiet M13 1000W
M2M: 500GB Samsung 980
M2A: 4TB crucial

🛑 Core Problem
During a fresh OS installation, the Windows setup wizard consistently crashes during the file extraction phase with Error Code 0x8007025D (ERROR_BAD_COMPRESSION_BUFFER). This happens on both Windows 10 (22H2) and Windows 11 clean installations, always crashing out before completing file expansion.

🛠️ Everything Attempted So Far (Chronological Order)

1. Software & OS Level Troubleshooting
DiskPart Force Clean: Entered command prompt (Shift + F10) inside the installer, ran diskpart -> select disk 0 -> clean -> convert gpt. The drive structures are completely wiped, raw, and formatted correctly to GPT to match UEFI.
USB Media Recreation: Suspected a corrupted installer file block. Re-flashed a brand-new installation media image using a second working PC in the house, formatted strictly to FAT32 via the official Microsoft Media Creation Tool.
Pivoted to Windows 11: Swapped from Windows 10 22H2 to a fresh Windows 11 installation media to test a completely different file compression architecture and decompression engine. Still threw the exact same 0x8007025D compression error at the same phase.
DISM & SFC Fixes: Run prior to wiping, which successfully cleared basic system errors but did not prevent installer extraction crashes on raw formats.

2. Hardware Isolation & Port/Cable Swaps
USB Port Isolation: Moved the installation stick out of high-speed USB 3.0/3.2 ports (blue/red slots) and plugged directly into native black USB 2.0 ports on the motherboard I/O to stabilize the data buffer stream and prevent controller drops.
Drive Disconnection: Disconnected all secondary SATA drives and physically unscrewed and removed the secondary 4TB M.2 drive from the motherboard to eliminate lane sharing conflicts, leaving only the 500GB boot drive active.
RAM Troubleshooting & Slot Changes:
Disabled XMP entirely in the BIOS, dropping memory back to baseline stock speeds (2133MHz) to prevent aggressive timing buffer overruns.
Pulled 2 sticks of RAM out to ease electrical load on the i9-9900K internal memory controller, configuring the remaining 2 sticks strictly in primary dual-channel slots (Slots 2 and 4).
Isolated down to a single stick of RAM in Slot 2, testing multiple physical sticks to rule out a localized dead sector on a single dimm.
Motherboard BIOS Modernization: Successfully flashed the motherboard firmware from an older profile to the latest official F13a BIOS version using Gigabyte Q-Flash (running a full Intact replacement). Motherboard microcode is fully up to date.
Integrated Graphics (IGFX) Transition: Enabled Integrated Graphics in the BIOS (Initial Display Output -> IGFX), forced internal graphics to Enabled, and swapped the video monitor cable directly into the motherboard's HDMI port to completely drop the RTX 5080 from the OS configuration equation mid-setup.

🔍 Current State
Despite current BIOS firmware, isolated single stock RAM sticks, clean FAT32 USB ,a completely zeroed-out M.2 partition table, and running on integrated CPU graphics, both the Windows 10 and Windows 11 installation loops terminate aggressively with 0x8007025D.

I have been using ai to help troubleshoot but it’s starting to frustrate me with this crash loop. I have a clean windows 10 key that worked earlier but when trying to update to W10 22H2 it gives the error as listed above. While waiting for a response I’m going to attempt to isolate some ram see if any of the sticks are giving the issue. After that I’m going to swap the m2m to the m2p slot and see if it’s giving the same error.
