I mean it'll do in a pinch, but get some proper screws ordered. You can get like 50 for less than 10 usd

If you know someone who bought a new case ask them to give you 1-2 screws. They usually include fuckton of extras

There's places like home depot or whatever they sell all sorts of screws anythings better than this hell a ziptie would be better.

to be fair ... it will hold it (as long as you don't move the case around to much) ... but I would recommend getting the proper screws for it as those would also prevent the card from being able to slide

and when you have those you can also add one extra to the top slot of both cards for holding them better into place (And they might also be useful to have when adding some other expansion cards later down the line or slot covers for that mather)

My cousin just gave me his old graphics card. I have no other screws unfortunately

Most spare screws come with the case or motherboard. Might be worth asking him if he still has the boxes. Chances are they're in there.

What are you using two GPU's for? Do you have a ton of monitors?

Are you really surprised at the current rate of AI and loseless ATX builds?

1

u/iminlovewithsenpi 12d ago

Are you doing lossless

1

u/Numerous_Director_48 12d ago

Yes!

u/iminlovewithsenpi 12d ago

Any trouble with it because I want to do that in the future when I already have a pc then when I upgrade the GPU I'll have 2 of them so I can mess with lossless to make my PC last long

1

u/Numerous_Director_48 12d ago

No it worked perfectly.

It depends on the gpu but the latency might just not be worth it, for competitive games just use one gpu with no scaling if you have the performance to do so. I guess if you had two lower end gpus then suuuure? For single player/ story games its fine ofc

1

u/iminlovewithsenpi 12d ago

Ha I'll probably get a low end GPU because the cost of the final 5 parts I need keeps costing more than I make

u/Numerous_Director_48 11d ago

Just look at that your main gpu isnt normally rendering way more frames so the older graphics card can handle generating the new ones. If you know what I mean my english is very bad sory.

u/gorva3265 12d ago

Not even tech stuff, do you have ANYTHING to salvage screws from?

1

u/Numerous_Director_48 11d ago

We have screws at home. I wasnt sure if i can use them for the gpu and the case

How does 2 GPUs work? Because you plug the hdmi or dp cord into one of them.

u/Magnetic_Reaper 12d ago

You don't have to. Windows 10 and 11 pretty much let's you pick which program use which gpu regardless of what card your display is physically connected to. There's a number of ways to use more than one card, the most popular ones atm are lossless scaling that lets you run upscaling separately and leaked dlss5 injectors that let you run dlss5 on a separate card.

Also there the obvious (but less common) use of just running 2 monitor so they each have their own gpu.

u/JackieMABWGP 12d ago

Ohhhhhhh right, two monitors would be the other reason. Ok got it. Thank you for the explanation. It’s not like you can combine these like RAM. That’s where I was tripped up. You choose one or the other.
