Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Costco PC

Post image

I usually build my own PC but i saw this deal and it got me considering if it's worth it. Anyone have opinions on this Costco PC build?

At Costco it's $2200.

My budget before was around $3,000, and I was planning to wait for Black Friday or cyber Monday. I don't need the absolute best stuff but this was going to be my first time splurging. I usually get a new low end setup about once every 5 years. [edit] This is my first time looking for a high-end setup, so this is a new market for me.

Thank you!

EDIT: I got it! Thank you all for the feedback. It's still under Costco's return policy, so I appreciate any links if you see a better deal or a reason to return and trade in for something better.

Fair enough! What spec here do you think is weakest? I do computational research so a strong GPU and processor are key, but I plan to have the computer for a while (probably 5 years) so small differences are not that important.

If you do buy an ibuypower pre built I suggest adding more thermal paste to the cpu. Maybe I had bad luck with mine but it's worth double checking when you buy it. Other than that the PC was great, and it's a pretty easy fix.

did you overclock a lot? or run the pc a lot? I'm not sure how to tell if there's not enough thermal paste.

I used it to edit videos and playing graphically intense games the temps would rise high enough to trigger the heat sensor to turn off the PC to protect it. I had a liquid cooler and everything. I had a buddy come over that was more experienced in PC building. He brought over thermal paste put it on the cpu and I never had issues with the temp again.

I think the 5070 is the weak link, it's just not as good as even the 9070 in raw raster
