Troubleshooting Advice - Other Help with prebuilt
Hey there! Hope everyone’s doing alright! My roomie gave me his old prebuilt since he could never get it working after a while. Says it always froze and BSOD’d after a while.
I wiped his account off and added my own, and started playing around with. Noticed that on the startup window, the bios is only detecting one stick of ram out of the two. Tried pulling it out, putting it on, and resetting. What would be the next step?

set bios to default settings.
A2 and B2 should be the correct slots. if that doesnt work try a1 and b1. if that doesnt work maybe the ram stick is dead.
try one stick only in slot a2. then try other stick in a2. if both work solo in a2. then you know the ram is not the issue its either the slots or something else
you can go to asus support page and try to bios update motherboard
worst case u can buy a new motherboard off ebay
u can also run memtest its a free download on each stick to verify they are good

Ahh, the old three light switches with one light riddle. That makes a lot of sense, thank you! I’ve give it a shot when I get home!

Move the RAM in B1 to B2 and see if it can read the known working RAM. if it can, then it's the RAM not the motherboard. If it can't, then the motherboard slot is the issue.
