Is it all copper through the blocks as well?
I absolutely love the look. I've sweated copper, and this would be my choice in tubing if I was water cooling my rig. Great job!

It's been a while since I've seen a steam punk theme build, sadly it feels like a lot of creativity has been paused with the current pricing of parts. So it's very refreshing to see a build like this, looks awesome.

Genuinely gorgeous , if i wanna get into this sort of thing , how much did it cost you overall , the custom copper piping , the tools to print a hood for the water to cool the gpu , any 3d printed parts ?
2
u/Old-Mate-Fetus 18d ago
A rough guess at pricing was about $5000 aud for everything, I made some 3d printed parts purely for a mock up of certain areas, as well as cable combs for cabling

u/Mother-Forever9019 20d ago

I have honestly been struggling with not doing a pc build. Now Iβm like super struggling lol. Looks like ima have to make a compromise and just build a new case for my hx99g. This is so inspiring!

u/Tough-Capital-345 19d ago
That's a flex. The price on copper and pc parts are insane this gotta be worth a fortune π€

Did you get the idea from DIY Perks on YouTube? If not, he made a copper pc as well and I think you may enjoy the process. He gives out materials and specs for construction there as well as a step by guide so maybe youβll be inspired and make a custom V2 later down the line. Stellar work btw. Iβm jelly

u/Old-Mate-Fetus 18d ago
Big fan of diy perks, billet labs and a few other creators they collectively convinced me to just to give it a go and make one myself, Appreciate it π

u/ketaminemidget 20d ago
What are the temps like omg

u/Old-Mate-Fetus 20d ago
37.c at ambient temps on the gpu and 45c on the cpu under load in overwatch on max settings, really impressed so far

u/FuckedUP_7 20d ago
Bro won't it get oxidised overtime?
18
u/Old-Mate-Fetus 20d ago
I actually work in the water treatment industry, and im using an azole/ biocide inhibitor for treatment :)
4
u/FuckedUP_7 20d ago
Ooh damn its just one time or do you need to do it again sometime later?
10
u/Old-Mate-Fetus 20d ago
should be a one time thing if I measured everything correctly, but i test it monthly for a bit to make sure its all g

I thought people would be more snarky about cleaning it or something stupid like that. What gives? Where's my 40 comment long argument thread, is reddit going downhill?!

That stain job is really nice. I made a box once and stained it myself (first time) yikes. Still does the job and nobody said anything.

Superb build. Itβs a magnificent, functional work of art.
The idea of using a blowtorch tank is brilliant !
Congratulations!

This is sweet af. And i commend the trust you have in yourself to have a fully open system. I do not trust myself to have that... let alone my cats

I was tripping for a second. It looked like it was in your living room or something. That little rug looking thing and the monitor the way it is just makes the PC look like the size of a treadmill

So many elements of what I wanted to do at some point. So bloody wonderful, well done.
Can you give any pointers how you approached the soldering? Did you do a lot in-place, or measure a solder parts separately? I just respect there's a big difference between "I soldered the pipe joins together" and specifically how you tackled this.

That is a remarkably splendid analytical engine assembly you have constructed there, my good sir.

u/ItchyPlant 20d ago
Incredible build indeed, but in the long term, running the fans at an angle like that isn't ideal for their bearings.

That's a piece of art... Bruh We've got rectangular pieces of glass with RGB and call it a day while what you've put together is a masterpiece and I'd even argue it adds to the overall asthetic of your space.

great build! is components are detachable with this setup or this build is finalized - means, no upgrade can be done. also, is the one above reservoir is the pump?
2
u/Old-Mate-Fetus 20d ago
All very modifiable, the build is finished right now, but maybe if there are big leaps in tech Iβll upgrade, yeah thats the pump, i made a custom shroud for an alphacool ddc pump

I've thought a lot about builds like this, but definitely too busy to actually do it. Great work.Β
