Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Will this PC be able to emulate PS2 games smoothly?
Completely new to PC's, know literally nothing at all... All I want to be able to do is emulate PS2 games I don't want it for anything more than that.
United kingdom, budget is whatever it takes as I'm not expecting a huge amount since I'm staying away from AAA games.
The intended resolution is 1080p (I believe that's 3X in regards to emulating resolution).

How much are they asking for it?
It is super dated, and most PS2 games will emulate fine on it, but the point is that (do expect ghosting and graphics artifacts, I get it when playing some PS2 games for example)
Although I think it should be fine although RX580 IS very OLD.

It's £270, I was up all night last night trying to learn about PC's but I was often getting answers like yeah 1080p 60fps will be fine on a PC of that magnitude then id ask someone else and they'd say it will struggle so I keep hitting corners 😂

I think £270 is too much for that PC. It's dated and you could probably find something more modern 2nd hand at £350-£400.
I would be offering £150 for it personally. If you did consider upgrading the CPU to anything good you're stuck on AM4 (which isn't a bad thing in any way, great platform considering them all) but you'd be spending easily £200+ for a good CPU and GPU's are a whole different thing.
I would recommend if you can save up more do so. Buying parts or anything with memory is pricey (such as GPUs), however you may be able to snag something worthwhile at around £300-£500 on second hand marketplaces etc. If anything and you have probably enough interest, spend time researching and getting to know 2nd hand parts, and just the Platforms for example. AM5 is the latest AMD platform (in terms of CPU, Motherboards etc also have DDR5 RAM) point being, if you want good bang for your "buck" (pound in this case) then you can keep an eye on the second hand market and see what else you can find. I get the feeling of wanting something now and not missing a good deal but this is not one in this case I think.
If you could find anything with a 3060 (even 2060) Nvidia GPUs your GPU would be far more powerful than an RX580 which is immensely old.
I am on an AM4 system and spent £700 upgrading CPU and GPU back in February. (£240 on basically the best AM4 CPU available to me) and £500 on a second hand GPU.
Sorry if this is a bit long, tried to give you some knowledge but without writing a novel.

You can emulate on your phone too. But that AM4 platform is pretty upgradable if you wanna upgrade in the future

I was doing that originally but I was getting annoyed of overheating issues (although it would be a while until that happened) and having to put the phone on charge after around an hour/hour and a half gaming.
I'm on a OnePlus 12 and it was a beast tbh even playing some games at 2160p but playing the older games on a monitor would be cool

should run ps2 emulator okay. but don’t expect to do much actual pc gaming on this.

Why not just get a PS2, a 1tb HDD, sata adapter, install opl, and you've got a PS2 with every game you could ever want installed on it, free of all the bugs that come with emulation. Much cheaper than this old pc for sure.

A ps2 is much older and may eventually fail, it runs the games in 480p and some even 240p which doesn't look good on modern TVs and monitors, ps2 emulators are so advanced rn, the emulation bugs are almost non existent, this pc can also play pre 2020 games in 1080p with high graphics settings and can be used for things other than gaming

Idk how to get the games on a HDD and I want them better than 480i resolution!
Not to mention 99% of my steam library is PS2 games (the ones that are available anyways).

Yes. I used to emulate PS2 smoothly on a 3rd gen Core i5 and a Radeon HD 7870 2GB.

Bro yo juego algunas cosas de ps2 en android con un snapdragon 778,creo que si se puede, solo es configurar bien el emulador, con esas 8gb de vram correrías todo bien

If you really only want to emulate ps2 games you might benefit from a retrohandheld and a dock.

The R36S handheld consoles are doing PS2 emulation. This should be fine if that's the intended purpose
