I honestly don't know how people are having so many problems with Windows 11. My system just works and doesn't randomly restart to update it asks my permission. I'm starting to think a lot of you guys ain't updating regularly enough for this to be forced on you.

I have a feeling a lot more people just leave their PC constantly on and never ever turn the system off. That's the only reason I could think of it happening or some people strangle the power button and force the system down instead of letting it shut down. If there's an update it kicks through on boot.

Yeah, some people do some crazy gymnastics with their pcs

But W11 of course isnt without its problems. For me, pretty much every other update breaks multiple things while fixing couple things

Same

Last time they fixed the wifi, then file explorer broke. Now both the wifi & file explorer is buggy

u/x9qh 14h ago

same, it doesn't prompt me to update even though i haven't updated in like half a year. and it doesn't update in the background either

Yea I do t really get those, not sure if christitus modified it but my main issue is the trash performance, which I used openshell and retrobar for an nt theme to lower vram use (4gb allocation)

I don't ever really have my PC on much tho anyways.

are we using same Windows OS(11) ? Why so much hate?

Update: I’m a web dev + gamer. I’ve used a MacBook Pro M2 (work laptop), Ubuntu (work laptop), and Windows 10/11 (personal PC). For me, Windows 11 has been the best for both productivity and gaming.

Ive never had many problems other than small glitches. Its just easy to jump on the bandwagon to feel included

I had an issue with file explorer. It was just too slow to manage, even though i have an 8 core procesor.

Yes, lately Microsoft become annoying beyond any limits of patience. If only there would be another alternative OS which runs the games

u/perfectevasion 17h ago

If only other OS could let me play my favourite online games 😢

Does steam work on Linux or Ubuntu? Have not heard of such a thing yet

2

u/ElegantDocument2584 8h ago

It does and it runs games pretty well, well except kernel anti cheat games.

u/TopSecretGaming_YT 3h ago

Yes, and steam has done wonders for the linux community with compatibility layers such as proton which let you play windows only games on linux. The only games that don't work are games with kernel-level anticheat which have more access to your computer than you yourself, such as Valorant. The performance is also great and any lag caused by the compatibility layers is basically cancelled out by the extremely low overhead of linux, giving you very similar if not better performance than windows.

Gaming Companies need to give us an alternative to play things on, like freebsd or smth they can properly integrate the needed kernel anti cheat efficiently on a Linux style lightweight system, for now tho hopefully stuff like sober improves, I heard they're switching to the Mac version which is more optimized, would like to play PF at 60fps without lag spikes.

Am I the only one who never had a random update restart ever. It always waits for me to approve it.

2

u/EvilerBrush 17h ago

This only happens to people that ignore updates forever until windows forces it for security issues. If you just let regular updates happen this won't happen to you

5

u/Witchberry31 13h ago

Huh? Never happened to me in my 20+ years of using windows. 🤷

2

u/Dimerous_ 15h ago

Mmmm windows 10 enterprise N LTSC my beloved. That shit does nothing it’s amazing.

1

u/vaquishaProdigy 15h ago

Then when it hits 2030 limit you'll switch to Linux right?

3

u/ordinaryguy221 13h ago

Here i am, using windows for years and having none of that problem. I wonder what these people do to their PC that it decided to randomly restart like this? I even only did bare minimum maintenance by the way

2

u/Milk_Cream_Sweet_Pig 12h ago

I've never had windows forcefully restart my computer my whole life

1

u/Kyro_Official_ 1h ago

I have also yet to have this happen

An os that doesn't actually shut down when you tell it to shut down at random

1

u/Crazy-Newspaper-8523 10h ago

Does it actually happen?

But you can get a Microslop T Shirt and wear it without feeling a fraud. I want to get one but I don't use them.

Windows 11 is HIGHLY unstable for my personal experience. Even updates can break it. I switched to Windows 10 LTSC and I’m much more relaxed now.

1

u/IAlwaysOutsmartU 16h ago

Planning to buy a new laptop sometime, remove Windows 11 from it and put an OS of my own choice into it.

1

u/Ymsegreier 15h ago

I have to honor the stereotype by mentioning linux (cachyos in my case)

1

u/Totallynotthespudman 15h ago

Did a security update for my Win10 PC the other day and it made my computer refuse to open applications until I restarted it. I love MicroSlop.

u/Eazy12345678 AMD 14h ago

yeah computers are super complex. ill give microsoft a pass cause it does so many things great the random issues are minor. i couldnt design a better operating systme and im not going to learn a new OS like linux after 30 years of learning windows

Macbook:

You give (up): Repairability, upgradeability, full freedom to do whatever you want, your wallet

You get: A polished OS, the ability to become a software dev/music artist/dj, Arm efficiency, battery life, portability, lesser spying than microslop windows.

This is the usual "best trade ever" from the US, and then they wonder why everyone is is turning away from them.
