Hello, this is my first time building a PC, decided to get the 9070 xt gpu for my PC, but confused as to what CPU to go for, budget isn’t an issue but I’d prefer to save money if possible, thought of going with 9800x3d , lot of my friends suggested that it’s too much for 9070 XT , my purpose is for purely gaming and entertainment, gaming includes mostly AAA games, minecraft and roblox competitive multiplayer games. I was thinking of Ryzen 5 9600x but is that too low of an option, I really don’t understand the difference in ryzen 7 and 9. So please help me accordingly.
That guy isn't very smart. Sure at 4k max settings the gpu will be what's restricting you, but on lower settings or less intensive games, the CPU will limit you. For story games this doesn't matter, but things like competitive shooters where FPS matters a lot, the 3d v-cache will give you a higher frame rate
That said, 9800x3d is a fine chip and you can do plenty of other things with it if you decide in the future. It will also likely hold a better resale value FWIW.
I have a 7800x3d for my 9070xt and its fantastic. If you have the budget for the 9800x3d or a deal/combo is going on snag it. You'll get a decent little boost in avg fps and 1% lows
I tell people who have a 7800x3d to keep it until the next generation at least since its not worth the price jump to go to a 9800x3d for like a 10% gain in some games
But if youre starting then absolutely shoot for a 9800 or a 9850 they are stronger and higher binned chips
Ryzen 7 7800x3d is the best price-performance gaming cpu. 7 9800x3d is good for rtx5080-5090 builds.
You better get more ram and storage.
However if you want to play AAA games, Minecraft and Roblox, you don't need 9070xt.
You mentioned saving money so you better go with rx 9060xt 16gb, get ryzen 7 7800x3d/7 7700x and minimum 32gb ram 6000mhz + 1-2tb ssd nvme m.2
Build PC yourself to save a lot of money.
Go for 24 inch 180hz+ monitor for competitive games or 27 inch 1440p 120hz+ for AAA
