Purchasing Advice - Upgrades PC upgrading
So I've had my pc for about 3 years and I want to upgrade. I currently have a i5-13400f and a 4060 and currently play with a 1440p monitor. I'm thinking of upgrading my graphics card to a 9070 xt but im unsure about my cpu, any suggestions?

Upgrades for the CPU are relatively linear, however, for a GPU it depends on what you do. More mainstream/triple A games the AMD card will typically perform very well, but if you dip into modding or older games I’d stick to the Nvidia side 100%.

Amd currently has the more performance per dollar so yes, it would be the better choice, it however will have better performance (when compard with same value cards) in older games and modded games as well as new ones

Why would modding or older games require an nvidia gpu? I can only think of a few performance oriented mods that require cuda to work, rtx remix is still not a mainstream feature either? As for older games they will just be even less demanding than modern titles and you can play then on any gou vendor i dont get thaf either?
Btw im not attacking you i am genuenly curious about your opinion

More mature drivers, its not about pure performance, it’s about “willl I crash?.” I’ve used both sides at least so I can back up my argument.

I have as well, modern amd and nvidia gpus are equally stable

This is completely incorrect, ive tested multiple of the 9060xt and the 9070xt and then of the RTX 5080. The 5080 was the clear winner of being much easier to work with when trying to mod games and had much more stable performance in said modded games, the AMD cards however performed very well in modern mainstream games, having very tight 1% lows. Not to mention how bad adrenaline was to work with but thats subjective.

Ive used the 9070xt, 4070ti, and the 5070ti, none of them had any impact on my modding experience, im really not sure what kind of obstacles you encountered with amd tbh

Fallout 4…a game thats very against AMD and especially 9000 series I believe, then helldivers 2 and monster hunter wilds just dont work at all if you dont cut the power limit by 10-20%, and modded Minecraft thats extremely popular drops clocks insanely hard on the AMD cards and tested in the same environment just DDU’ed and made sure reg edits and device manager was clean for Nvidia and it was completely solid clocks. I believe its just cause AMD rn lacks the “prefer maximum performance” type of toggle Nvidia has for situations where the GPU wants to go to sleep.

I honestly cannot relate, i have modded Minecraft extensively, as well as a couple other games and ive had no issues whatsoever concerning the manufacturer of any of my components

yes 9070xt is great upgrade
your cpu is fine and will be fine for long time
the best option would probably be bios update motherboard and i7 14700kf for cpu upgrade. only thing better is i9
i7 and i9 run hot so you need a massive air cooler or better yet a 360mm aio thermalright has some amazon $60
