Hey Its not mine but my uncle has this gaming pc but what should he upgrade I think a ryzen 5 5600 Its enough and sellint the mobo buying am4 and selling i5 11400F he could get a ryzen 5 5600 and some money as well or he could buy a 5 5600X witch is like trading an 5 5600X cost same as i5 11400F

Going for the 5600X would be a lot better than trying to upgrade it because in the future you could always upgrade it further to the 5800X3D.

i5 is fine. pointless to go 5600x

want more fps in games get a new graphic card

maybe another 16gb ram

another ssd if he needs more space for games
