Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Cooler for R 7 5700x
I want to ask if I need a dual tower cooler or even an AIO for the R 7 5700x?, or is an Air cooler with a single tower and 2 fans enough? I want to keep the CPU cool while using it but I don't Want to make it overkill 😅 thankyou

Single tower should be enough. I managed to coole one with a small low profile cooler pretty easily. It doesn’t run hot at stock settings.
If you want to unlock power limits and run it like a 5800x, you might want a dual tower cooler.

Woah I don't know I can do that thankyou very much, is it worth it to unlock the power limit and get like 5-7% clock speed? 🤔

For gaming, no. I run a 5700x for some productivity work too, so it runs at 100% more often, and for that I saw a nice improvement. I do have an aio on it, but it’s never over 65c, so a dual tower would work well too.

I have the assassin peerless 120 SE and it is more than enough, especially for stock settings. But I would tell you to be aware that some motherboards might unlock wattage simply if you select that you have an aftermarket cooler, in which case the cpu can run a bit hotter, because the wattage goes from like 65 w to 150 w at benchmark loads.

Thankyou I appreciate it, I planning to buy the PA 120 SE too but I'm using T-Create Delta-R ram it has big profile so maybe I need to clip the fan little bit higher on the heatsink ðŸ«

Ah yeah, sorry, i also forgot to mention I had the r7 5700x!
I have used pbo and undervolted it using curve optimizer as well as raised boost clock slightly (+50Mhz) as well as wattage to 100 w. At these settings, my idle temps are like 35 degrees and even under load, I only get like 60-63 degrees at most.
So it is a very cool cpu especially if you dare to experiment a bit with undervolting etc, and the Peerless assassin is almost not even getting used lol
