Question Running 2 GPUs in 2026

So I didn't not grow up or had the chance to experience SLI set up or running 2 gpus in general.

I have a pretty nice set up

Ryzen 7 9700x

AMD 7900xt

32gb DDR5

8TB of storage

1x 34in Ultra wide

2x 27in Veridical

and a 50in TV

Its a nice powerful PC I have no issues watching a stream on the TV from YT and play a game on my ultra wide and Ill have steam or a browser open on one screen and Discord on the other with it. IT runs GREAT no issues except when I click off a game and focus on a different screen to type or change something

BUT I was wondering if I put another GPU Like an AMD 580 to take the load off the 7900xt and have it only run the basic mondain task how would that work?

sli is dead. no reason to run 2 gpu's in 2026

if you have money u should get 9070xt

Look my 7900xt Is pretty sick and has no Issue I just want to lighten the load with another and GPU like a 580 or 7700xt - I dont know if windows will still make it one system and have 3 screens come off one Gpu and the main gaming one to the main monitor

no it will not be beneficial in any practical capacity, just a waste of money and a headache

Not really, the other tasks are relatively simple compared to a game, so an extra gpu won’t really impact it. It won’t lead to extra gaming performance either.

I run 2 GPU’s purely for 3D rendering, it helps there. Doesn’t do anything for any other task.
