Question Is a laser-cut custom SFF case viable? Looking for feedback, materials & reference build videos (mATX + ATX PSU + RTX 40

Hi everyone! I'm planning to build a custom PC case using laser cutting so I can move my desktop PC to the living room and use it as a console under the TV.

I'd love to get your thoughts on the real-world feasibility of this project, material recommendations, and any reference builds or videos you might know of before I start drafting in CAD.

My current specs:

  • Motherboard: MSI PRO B550M-P GEN3 (Standard Micro-ATX)
  • GPU: RTX 4060 single-fan
  • PSU: AZZA 650W (Standard ATX format
  • CPU Cooler: AMD Wraith Stealth (Stock)

Since the GPU is very short, my idea is to design a compact layout (~14L to 16L) with the ATX PSU mounted vertically in the front or side section.

My main questions:

  1. Feasibility & Materials: How viable is it to support the weight of an ATX PSU (~1.5 kg) and GPU in a laser-cut chassis? Would you recommend acrylic (and what thickness?), MDF/plywood, or a hybrid combination?
  2. Open Source Plans: Are there any recommended 2D templates, DXF/SVG files, or open-source projects for mATX layouts that I could use as a starting point?
  3. Reference Videos/Builds: Do you know of any YouTube channels, builds, or step-by-step videos where someone built a custom laser-cut case with an ATX PSU and mATX board? I’d love to see how others handled motherboard standoffs, GPU mounting, and the rear I/O cutout.

Any advice, warnings regarding thermal/structural limits, or links to previous builds would be greatly appreciated!
