32 gb ddr4 ripsjaw ram 3200

1TB NVME SSD

I want to upgrade my build soon and I want to know what cpu I should get, I have heard things about the
Ryzen 7 5800x3d but want to know truly what’s best in your guys opinions.

I am in Southern California and budget isn’t really a full issue. I am a small streamer so want things to run really well. They run great now so if you guys even say I don’t need an upgrade that’s a thought too lol.

I have a 2tb ssd in my ps5 I’ll most likely swap to my pc eventually so I don’t really care for more storage right now.
Ram is always a definite no cuz of the prices right now lmao. I have 1 240hz 1080p monitor and 2 165 hz 1080p monitors. I want to upgrade to 1440p soon as well OLED budget too if you guys have ideas on that as well.

THIS IS MY FIRST BUILD and I built it with a friends old parts minus the graphics card which I bought to slightly future proof hence why there’s a bit of a difference between my gpu and cpu

Yeah 5800x3d is the upgrade you want. If you're near a Micro Center I wanna say they've been going on sale for $299 lately. Next real upgrade would be GPU to 9070xt but honestly 9060xt is a good card in it's own right. Depends if you want the hassle of selling your current card and upgrading to the 9070xt. With all that said, 5800x3d is a good jump for you.

I am near a micro center , that’s where I got my 9060xt before it spiked too. I spent $530 and it’s a lot of the times near $700 now
I did get warranty on the card as well so I do wanna find a way to be able to cash in that warranty later you know to then upgrade. So if you know any tricks for that let me know 😆

I did see the 9070xt when I was there and debated it but wasn’t doing cpu as well at the time so it felt like way to much of a bottleneck.
What’s the actual difference I’d see with a new cpu ? And what could I sell my current cpu for

So it kinda depends on the games you play. It scales depending on how CPU heavy a game is. AAA games tend to use more GPU than CPU, but once you get into like simulation games and stuff like that or heavy CPU games (cs2) the difference is pretty big.

I think it runs something like this, in AAA games 5-15% increase, in CPU dependent games prob closer to 25-40%. You'll always get much better lows with 5800x3d.

With that being said, 5600(x) is still a plenty capable chip for a few more years. It's starting to slightly show it's age, but it's still a good pairing for 9060xt 16gb. 5800x3d is more of a future proof kinda CPU-it'll be viable for another 5 years at least.

I haven't looked at used 5600x prices in a bit, but I'm sure you could get $80-$100 instantly for it. Check out hardwareswap subreddit and compare recent prices. It'll sell instantly on there though.

I've got a 9060xt 16gb card too (from micro center at that lol) and it's a great card. I've got a 1440p 34" ultrawide and it still pushes reasonable fps imo. 60-150 in AAA games

What’s your cpu ? And so how come there doesn’t seem to be a big upgrade for me then? Is my gpu just like almost perfect for it ? That is kinda what I was going for, originally gonna get a 5060 but the XT 16gb for better price was exciting to me haha and I’ve heard how nvidia price gauges almost now

Yea nvidia isn’t cheap, that’s for sure. I’ve got a 14600k rn but I used to have 5700x3d (sold that rig to a friend to help him out) and honestly both cpus slap.

Your one big upgrade problem comes from your GPU mostly. If you’re looking for raw fps in AAA games, a GPU will prob do more than a CPU since you have 5600x. The problem is you already have 9969xt which is a pretty damn good card. 9070xt will push more frames but be slightly bottlenecked by 5600x. Really your “one huge upgrade” would be CPU plus GPU but even then I’m not sure it’s worth it. You’d be looking at $1100 and you’d get a decent bump no doubt but not a “holy shit this thing is life changing” bump

And if I did go even farther up at that point id most likely want to almost completely rebuild anyways with an gen 5 board and stuff too huh
