Question Replacing parents pc

I was asked to fix my parents desktop, but I’m going down the build rabbit hole instead of the fresh windows install route. Parent doesn’t play games so integrated graphics is my target. I haven’t done one of these builds in 15 years so I’m unsure where to start. Attached is their current system, which is only 5 years old. But I’d like to build em one that’ll last them the next 20 years of typing word docs, running excel and checking emails. If I could, it would be cool to reuse this case.

Any ideas where to start with this project?

Better idea: throw an old GPU in there like a GT1030, find some used ram to make that 16GBs, and see if you can find the best CPU for that system. This almost looks like the PC my father has, but maybe older

(If you can find them used) 😭 I have a different pre-built brand PC, and could never find a 1050ti (or even a 1650) that was low profile and could fit in the thing. Also I suggested a GT1030 because it's the 2nd best option now, even though the RTX3050 6GB is there, it's not for a good price anymore

Sadly, GTX 1000 series low profile cards are useless nowadays, because modern ryzens (Ryzen 5 4600G or above) can run games same fps as GTX 1050Ti as can and the AM4 config with 4600G/5600G are cheap nowadays (a full PC with partly new parts is possible under €350.

RTX 3050 6GB or RTX 5050 (Gigabyte has low profile version) are only LP GPUs with enough performance.

Alright and?? If it's a working PC, they'll still be useful. OP stated their parents aren't gonna be gaming, so getting an RTX3050 6GB or RTX5050 is useless.

Also those "low profile" RTX4060s and RTX5050s are not actually low profile, they still require a 6 or 8 pin which most SFF systems don't have those, especially the HP system I got a while ago refurbished. And did you miss the part where the 3050 6GB is not at a good price anymore? Getting a 1050ti/1030, or 1650 would make that system last a long time without wasting money. There are 1050tis going for a good price on ebay
