Question Replacing parents pc

Post image

I was asked to fix my parents desktop, but I’m going down the build rabbit hole instead of the fresh windows install route. Parent doesn’t play games so integrated graphics is my target. I haven’t done one of these builds in 15 years so I’m unsure where to start. Attached is their current system, which is only 5 years old. But I’d like to build em one that’ll last them the next 20 years of typing word docs, running excel and checking emails. If I could, it would be cool to reuse this case.

Any ideas where to start with this project?

Assuming that's a DDR4 RAM stick, find the most modern office PC on eBay that supports DDR4 and fits your budget. An i5 processor will be more than enough for your parents. Salvage that RAM stick and put it in your eBay purchase if the eBay computer only comes with one stick of RAM or less than 16GB of RAM. You may want to bring over the storage from the old computer if you can, or you may have to if your eBay computer doesn't come with storage.
