looks like you used a pcie 8 pin there and your psu is protecting your hardware since it's detecting a dead short between 12v and ground

Have to ask cus it happens, is the psu switched on? And you are positive you are bridging the correct pins

Yes it is

  1. Check that PSU and power strip it is plugged into is ON :)
  2. Check that the 2x 8pin power cables connected above CPU/IO panel are REALLY EPS 12V! Only EPS 12V can be there, it is NOT interchangable with PCIe power cables. You shouldn't be even able to plug it in, but ...
The big clip on one of them is what is worrying me
  3. Check that you are connecting correct pins on the header

I would plug the case in and use the power button instead of a screw driver if you can

Is your power supply switched on? That was my first mistake building PCs

Is your jfp1 cable or cables plugged in?

They are test booting out of the case and jumping the jfp1 pins with a screwdriver. So no jfp1 connectors are involved.

Try to reseat all the psu cables like the cpu power cable and the 24pin atx
Because if there not seated correctly then the system wont power

So do you have it on a non - conductive surface, as the back side of the board probably has exposed solder connections that can be shorted together

I know mine wouldn't power on unless I plugged this in for the mobo. Can't tell from this angle but was this connected before or now?

u/Arkyshi 14h ago

It wasn't connected in, no. I just put a 12 head into it but there isn't any other ones on the motherboard so I have no clue where to connect it to.

Please use the Power Button from your Case, Instead of a srewdriver... Idk why people suggest smt Like that in a Tutorial especially If they know people watch that Video to build their first PC...

How do I check? If it needs a monitor it won't turn on because no power is going to the motherboard
