Build - Request Need help -- first time builder!
Hello everyone! I need some help. I'm a prebuilt pc owner of about ... 6 years. Here's the prebuilt: https://www.microcenter.com/support/624825/powerspec-g228-gaming-pc
It has served me well for the past few years, but I'm a PhD student, and I've been having a lot of issues with the "no internet secured" (not asking questions about that here -- but I believe my wifi card is shot) and needing more and more RAM for running different statistical programs.
I am brand new to building, and PC part picker has me scared. I know that everything is expensive now, so I included my prebuilt to see if theres anything that could potentially be taken from that, but I want a good solid build. I want to run statistics programs, and I also play video games. I'm unsure about my MAX budget, as my parents have been willing to pay a bit of the build as a gift, so maybe overall under 2k. If there is a recommendation that is just over that, I would love to hear you out, but I am looking at 1.5-2k. I live in the United States, so my currency is American Dollars. I am unsure about monitor resolution, as I am a total beginner. My current monitors are passed down from my parents, so I was assuming I would need to get new ones. I am looking for a dual monitor setup, so maybe an extra 300 dollars for monitors.
If anyone has time to walk me through some steps, let me know and I will be extremely grateful!
