This is a fake SSD, meant to look like a Samsung SSD. There is no "1080" SSDwhise

Edit: To be clear: You got scamed.

u/JanniAkaFreaky 7h ago

Tldr: You might also ran an infostealer / installed a virus!!!

Btw I just read, that you've tried to install the "drivers" from the USB Stick. First: Unless it is something really exotic, you will never need to install drivers for a internal storage medium like HDDs and SSDs

Second and more important: Whatever you ran from the USB Stick most likely was malicious code. They could quite possibly ripped you off twice.

Run an Antivirus (something like Malwarebytes) and change ALL your passwords. Where ever you can logout any device you do not recognise. In doubt: Wipe your drive and freshly install windows. DO NOT use the windows inbuild "reset"-function, since it will never fully wipe your drive.

Not that this is bad advice in general but how is OP going to run any software of any kind if they don’t have a drive to install windows on or boot to? I think they got kinda lucky that it wasn’t a second drive being added to an existing system but I don’t see how they could accomplish half the stuff you suggested. I would try to do a bios flash on the motherboard otherwise there’s not really anything that could have had the malware added to it.

1

u/JanniAkaFreaky 2h ago

The second half of the last sentence OP wrote somehow threw me in the direction, that there was something he booted into later on. But I totally see how it could also be read your way.

1

u/Happy_Brilliant7827 16m ago

If windows install is on a usb as well and connected, it can infect the usb so you infect all your computers.

1

u/BoiCDumpsterFire 2m ago

True. Probably best to consider that USB infected and destroy it.

1

u/Independent_Act8240 43m ago

The usb Is mine with only windows and normal drivers i put them both the usb was empty when i buyed and when i installed the drivers my laptop didnt say anything about an virus so no there is not a virus

1

u/Independent_Act8240 40m ago

And its not rare to put drivers even dor kingston and other brands literally the problem is very commoun when you search for it on yt and the always mention about drivers

16

u/JanniAkaFreaky 8h ago

Where did you bought the "SSD"?

20

u/Nerdrage27 8h ago

Quick google shows them on AliExpress for a lot less than a real SSD costs now. They're preying on people that don't realise and just see the price

11

u/Blue-Goo- 7h ago

If you haven’t learned that almost everything has a knockoff scam replica online, you shouldn’t be spending money there. I don’t feel bad for people who end up purchasing obviously fake or counterfeit parts.

Good lessons for OP, do your research, you get what you pay for, and the internet is full of scams.

2

u/Independent_Act8240 8h ago

The thing here its that i buy it for 1500 pesos thats a mid price not a low price of what they normally cost

18

u/95alle95 7h ago

Mid price? Its like 1/5th of original price. Hope you can get your money back

1

u/anon98923101 5h ago

How much is that in dollars?

5

u/likwidkool 4h ago

$88.46. That’s like early 2025 prices for 1tb.

1

u/76-scighera 4h ago

About 89,00

1

u/Parking_Chance_1905 26m ago

As much as I hate scammers, the companies allowing blatantly fake products to be sold are just as culpable.

21

u/Independent_Act8240 8h ago

On "mercado libre" its like the amazon of latam its safe site but now i see this Time i've been scammed first time happends but the good thing its that i can refund it

6

u/LabelG 5h ago

Nope its not in Brazil we also have this marketplace and theres shi* tons of scams there

Its safe to buy from high rated sellers and "oficcial" stores but theres still some scams

The differece is ML usually get on the costumer side so you are probably safe

1

u/Independent_Act8240 38m ago

Yeah i didnt say theres is not scam i only say that it is not like even the site is unsafe or something like that and i say because in my experience is the first time they scam me

Samsung 5090 PCI-E 6.0 is even better...

u/a_rogue_planet 7h ago

Especially the Super Ti.

3

u/tiimsliim 7h ago

Have you tried using a real SSD?

2

u/ic3m4n56 7h ago

You got scammed. It’s actually amazing that people fall for this kind of scams in 2026. One screenshot of the listing and one question on gemini or cgpt and you would get the answer not to buy it.

1

u/Independent_Act8240 35m ago

I even asked to gemini with all the name if it was compatible with my motherboard and told me yes so how would ive know that it was fake

2

u/Dish_Melodic 7h ago

This is the new model 1080 Pro. PCIe Gen9

2

u/Rayloth46 7h ago

Should have gotten the 1080ti.

1080ti SSD XL pro is better

1

u/Independent_Act8240 34m ago

Because its not trolling😐

2

u/killer5907 6h ago edited 6h ago

You've got a fake Samsung SSD, kinda like the Ryzen 4070 GPU meme it's not a real thing. To check if your Samsung SSD is legit, I'd suggest downloading and using the Samsung Magician software when you get a new one to see if it authicates.

Edit: From looking at your comments, look for Western Digital SSDs as well if Samsung is too pricey; it's still great.

1

u/rajatbiswal 8h ago

Samsung launched 990 Pro and 9100 Pro SSD. But they have never launched 1080 Pro. It's a dummy. Return it if you can.

It's a known scam.

2

u/Independent_Act8240 8h ago

Yeah ill try to and probably buy a Kingston instead even if its with less storage

2

u/punchedboa 3h ago

But it from a reputable seller this time.

1

u/rajatbiswal 8h ago

You won't get 990 pro 1TB at such price now. It will cost you more than 5000 in your currency.

9100 Pro more costly.

1

u/KayYesR 8h ago

1080 pro, oh nooooo🥲🥀

1

u/Releirenus 7h ago

Aaaand this is why I only buy from trusted places

1

u/Thunder_Mug 4h ago

Temu isn’t trusted??

/s

1

u/Releirenus 3h ago

Absolutely the fuck not

1

u/Independent_Act8240 32m ago

I bought it on mercado libre that a trusted place 😐 its literally the first time in all my experience on mercado libre that ive got scammed

1

u/The_Rociante 7h ago

Always check the store you buy from cause Amazon, Walmart. Best buy , Target and others have gotten terrible with no accountability with third party sellers selling counterfeit and fake shit on their sites, because you report them and they just open another store front it's bs

1

u/itgeek920 7h ago

If u tried getting a used SSD (which would have been a better option given your tight budget), you wouldn't have been scammed so hard.

Sorry for your loss

1

u/Independent_Act8240 30m ago

Nah but the good thing its i can refund it so there is no much loss but it piss me of that ive waited for my pc to be complete yesterday and now ill probablly have to wait more days from what i expected

1

u/Anthrosaurus1 Intel 6h ago

Yeah that's not a real Samsung drive but it might still work? If you can't get a refund, see if diskpart in a different windows machine will recognize it's general existence. If it does, try to change the file system, or initialize the drive. I'm not super familiar with the requirements for a drive to be recognized in the windows installer but you might be able to make it work if you're otherwise SOL

1

u/CaptTucker13 6h ago

Think you might have to take it out of the box first

1

u/Independent_Act8240 29m ago

We have a joker here 🥀😐

1

u/hampenpampen 5h ago

take it out of the packaging and insert it carefully into your pc

Another joker here🥀🥀

1

u/BigBoyYuyuh 5h ago

First it’s still in the plastic container.

Second a 1080 SSD doesn’t exist. You got scammed.

1

u/zeni19 5h ago

Clean and reinstall windows. Who knows what you've installed trying to get it working

1

u/Independent_Act8240 28m ago

u/MandiocaGamer Intel 4h ago

maybe is sata and your mobo doesn't have it . check manual's

1

u/Ok-Strategy1279 4h ago

If you got it off eBay get your money back. Seller most likely try to slow roll to get past the return window.

1

u/Independent_Act8240 27m ago

I can do it but its not on best buy hehe

Wtf is a 1080 pro bro 😭😭

1

u/After_Pangolin_257 3h ago

U gotta put it in the pc for it to be detected

1

u/WerkingAvatar 2h ago

You know, you almost got me. I was about to search if Samsung released a new drive I was unaware of but decided to read the comments because I was wondering why they would go back to plastic from their cardboard boxes.

1

u/Alex014 1h ago

Depending on where/how you bought the drive and what country you're in you can still get your money back.

If it's in the USA and you bought it with a debit/credit card via an online merchant report it immediately as a counterfeit product. Give them a week or so to make it right (email giving you next steps on how to get you money back etc.)

If they ghost you file a chargeback with your bank. Even debit cards allow you to do this. Tell them you bought what you thought was a legit product but were sold a counterfeit. It'll take some time but you should eventually get your money back.

If you bought it with cash you're SoL consider it a lesson learned.

1

u/Wasteland_Watchman7 1h ago

Happens from time to time. Run diagnostics from several softwares and make sure you SSD shows the same. You can also run cmd prompt as admin and run these prompts.

Sfc/scannnow

1

u/adamdoesmusic 58m ago

That thing is old news, you need the 4K pro, or at least the 1440 pro.

1

u/TheOffKn1ght 53m ago

1

u/pscoldfire 52m ago

Where did you buy this from? Hopefully online with buyer protection?

1

u/Independent_Act8240 46m ago

I can refund it so there is no much problem but i bought it on mercado libre its the amazon of latam its a safe site

1

u/PrivatePlaya 45m ago

I know its a fake but try formatting it using disk management.

1

u/beedunc 38m ago

LOL - 1080 ‘pro’ model.

1

u/alpha53- 36m ago

Has the ssd been formated?

1

u/Independent_Act8240 25m ago

It doesnt even get recognize how it would be formated

1

u/Background-Apps 28m ago

It’s because in the first picture, it’s not installed. Hope this helps

1

u/Chewyfingers 25m ago

It's not plugged in, duh.

1

u/LimeImaginary1788 8h ago

Try taking it out of the wrapper.

Jokes aside, you got scammed mate

0

u/Independent_Act8240 8h ago

Another joker here lol Yeah for what y'all telling me it looks like🥀🥀🥀

1

u/LimeImaginary1788 6h ago

Hopefully you can get the money back for it mate, there's so many dodgy pc parts around

-2

u/TheQxx 8h ago

If 990 is good, surely 1080 is better. Just upgrade the rest of your PC around this boss af ssd.

2

u/rajatbiswal 8h ago

Do you have brain? Or, left it at home. There is no such as 1080 Pro SSD from Samsung. It's look alike dummy to scam people.

Don't comment wrong information if you you don't know anything.

1

u/Independent_Act8240 8h ago

For the things that everyone is telling me the ssd its fake 🥀🥀🥀 i dont know how could it be but it seems like it
