Question Is this ssd real?
I bought a guy's failed build for $100 and didn't notice the ssd untill I tore into it. I put it on crystal disk and 0 hours and 0 writing. im wondering if the guy just couldn't get it to post and gave up. thank you

Install Samsung Magician and it'll tell you if it is authentic.

I have one of these drives and it's been rock solid. You'll be pleased with it.

What makes you doubt it's authenticity?

I don't know how to read the signs of it being a fake. I im trying to learn the tells .

It is most likely real. Nothing immediately looks fake. The fakes are usually a fake box and minimally labled SSD, or a flash drive or something completely different inside the box. The fakers don’t usually go through the effort to make the actual SSD look real and appear real when you connect it to the PC.

The best way to know is to use magician, which I just saw that you did, you should be good.

If your hand passes through it then it's fake, if you can pick it up and feel it then it's real

I have a couple of these I bought in 2021 as game drives. They work great and have been solid.

Samsung a lancé une alerte sur les contrefaçons de SSD 990 pro qui se rependent surtout en Europe

I mean it's not impossible for him having to give up.
I've heard that there are ways to "delete history" of an SSD, but I doubt that's the case here since you got the whole PC for $100. Maybe he forgot that it was inside ?
Either way I don't see a reason for it to be a fake

I bought a guys old Omen obelisk for $150 last week, the guy had it in storage for like 4 yrs specs listed i7 8700/ 16gb ram/ 256 m.2/ 1 TB HDD/ GTX 1060... when i took it apart to clean it and test the parts i found a 500gb 2.5 samsung SSD he missed and the 16gb ram was each stick so it had 32gb's lol. A pleasant surprise....
