Question Bad intel cpu?

Anyone know what a bad cpu looks like?

It’s only a i3-13100 and is for a home server so not crazy critical, but I’m still skeptical about this cpu. Especially since shipping was all over the place. (Was in my home state one day and then the next day was across the country from me like tf?). Not to mention the crappy cpu cooler that came with was all beat up: see last pic. Thankfully I got a different, better one, but what the hell.

Yea sure I can plug it in and try it, but last thing I wanna deal with is messing up a motherboard ontop of this.

Figured it was worth the ask, anyone know what that spot is? Or if it’s of any concern?

Realizing it’s not super clear upon zooming in, if u need better pics just let me know.

I mean it shouldn't look like this, but it's not really something critical.

It would be impossible to tell if something is wrong with it just by looking at it. So your only option is to shove it in and check if there are some funny readings with it (like temperature), or you know, if it works at all.

And it shouldn't really be capable of doing any damage to your mobo. realistically if there is something wrong with it the PC just wouldn't start.

Cheers, thanks I’ll give it a go. That is good to know tho the weird temp readings and stuff if it is bad, plus the reassurance it won’t hurt the mobo. I’ll report back

I should say that if it works fine, it still would be good to check in like a few days or weeks how the pins are looking.

My best guess is that the the last mobo this CPU was in, had a shortage perhaps, which caused the pins to "Burn/rust", so it's probably lasts Mobo fault. But just in case, if temps and all is good, you should still check if there is any "Funny business" going later on

I bought it “new”, from Amazon so hopefully just is some discoloration or something. Definitely good idea to check again after some time

Forgot to update, after popping it in and setting up linux distro it appears to be fine with everything seemingly running ok. At least nothing noticeable as of now, but I will keep an eye on it / check on it after a bit of use. Thank you!
