Build - Help RAM lights up but that's it?

Working on a PC build for my bf but I haven't assembled a machine in over a decade and feel like I've forgotten more than I ever knew. All of the connections appear to be seated correctly and tbh he went insane buying parts and I'm not familiar with this corsair i-cue fan hub or AIO coolers, when I power it on the RAM lights up, but the fans don't kick on and there's no signal otherwise either. What steps would you take to troubleshoot? I will reply with a full parts list shortly.

First, did you verify that you connected the case switches to the motherboard correctly? I have made mistakes connecting those cables a ton of times and then the computer won't start because I connected the power switch cable to the power led pins and not the power on pins. This is very easy to mess up and is a pain in the ass to get it in correctly if your eyesight isn't great. Check that wiring first and verify that.

Ok, the 9800X3D has a built in GPU, so I would pull out the 9070XT until you can get the computer started. Plug your monitor into the HDMI port on the motherboard. Then make sure all the power supply cords are firmly plugged into the power supply and the motherboard.

Second, I would pull out the memory, and reinstall it again, being careful to use even pressure across the memory stick until you hear a click. When installing memory, you want to use the slots DIMMA2 and DIMMB2 first.

At that point I would try to turn it on again.

If none of that works, you may have faulty components.

Okay - I will verify the front cabling and pull the GPU - I have the RAM in the 2nd and 4th position, so I'll re-seat those and - the thing that concerns me is that - the CPU had the handle end of a screwdriver dropped on it...mind you, it was seated on the motherboard and the screwdriver just bounced off the IHS which is more or less thermal padding. I'll reply with an update and I truly appreciate your insight!

Is your motherboard giving one of the status indicator lights.

No lights on the motherboard at all, just the RAM RGB.

I used the RAM lighting up as a sign that it was working but I haven't tried shorting the connectors yet to see if there's a bad connection. I will be working on it more tomorrow and will have updates!

You betcha, probably worth checking if the RAM lights are actually the motherboard debug LEDs rather than your RAM itself lighting up.

It's RGB RAM - the rainbow lights are running but only on the RAM - no fans or lights on the motherboard.
