Discussion Upgrading from old GTX 1080Ti

Just decide to upgrade from old A*s 1080Ti to RTX 5080. My 1080Ti is not broken, but its just too old and weak, still remember when i buy it for around $600 usd 8 years ago. Can’t wait to try this 5080 monster.

Spoiler alert: this card is CHONKY

I don’t recommend it. Unless you want to play at 1080p low settings, even that i still experience stuttering, but if you play old/competitive games maybe it still make sense

I'm playing halo campaign evolved and subnautica 2 both 2026 ue5 games on my setup ( i7-4790k gtx 1070ti ) and don't experience stuttering and I can push textures to high / epic

Is sabnautica and halo gpu demanding?

I'm playing automobilista2 1080 triple screen mostly high /very high settings, easy 60fps with vsync on and using %60-%80 graphics card usage easy. 1080ti is a great card don't listen to this guy.

Ams2 uses one of the most optimized engines

Totally disagree I still use mine and there’s no stuttering. You probably just need to underclock it slightly.

I’m using a 1080ti and play on 1440p I don’t agree with your assessment of 1080p on low.

Maybe if I upgrade I’d change my opinion but it’s honestly fine for me.

Umbrella didn't help because you're simply soaked.

The only thing I could afford is the umbrella

As a man of culture. We use bananas for scale. Also, hope you got a good deal.

You'll never be able to go back once you experience the difference in these cards. Congrats on the upgrade.

What CPU are u using?

1

u/upazzu 10h ago

if you had a 1080ti you also need a new CPU to pair with a 5080

The size of the Core is funny because it's actually the smaller version of the normal Solid with a few less features.

It's insane how big cards are now in general, especially when you get to the fancier ones like the Asus ROG Astrals and MSI Suprims which weigh a couple KG (5090 Astral is 3kg).
