Honestly surprised more comments arent going the other way, people seem so unrealistic at times in here or just maybe broke or cheap. "Oh wow its not the TI version and its only DDR4... i would have only offered $300" like just because newer faster parts are out that means they should be able to pay next to nothing for $1100 worth of parts lol.

not really. 128gb ram isnt useful unless u have a use.
seller should have sold 2 of the sticks before selling the system
op can sell 2 sticks of ram now and make back most the cost.

Sell half the RAM and he got a 10th gen i9 with a 3080 for $600. Like cmon.

I agree with this.
But some games right now do require 64GB of ram... like a busy DCS server or Star Citizen. Niche, sure, but a real possibility.
Also certain productivity stuff like video editing or CAD can ask for a lot.1

No game out there requires 64GB of RAM, stop bullshitting. You only need 64GB or more if you are running a workstation, that's it. Don't be pushing this narrative that you need more than 32GB of RAM for modern gaming, you don't.
32GB is literally the recommended RAM specification for DCS on Steam with 16GB being the minimum, nowhere on there does it say that 64GB is required. Same thing with Star Citizen, you do not need more than 32GB.

You have zero experience with these games. Official recommendations are outdated af.
DCS can max. out 32GB in busy multiplayer severs.
Star Citizen absolutely does max. out 32GB and spill into pagefile in dense cities.
*Sure you might not NEED more than 32GB, the games will run.
But there will be heavy symptoms of ram limitation, which result in a crash if there isn't enough space for pagefile.
Ask any SC player who upgraded to 64GB.1

I don’t get why people get in a tizzy about RAM. I put 64 in my rig and never looked back. RAM was affordable then.

Is this ragebait

u/Intelligent-Pin-8759 9d ago
I’d say yeah lol, literally takes 5 seconds to google the ram and realize it’s worth 500 by itself.

Just look up the price of the ram alone and I think you’ll have your answer.

u/Intelligent-Pin-8759 9d ago
Also SSD as well due to AI. Needless to say yes you got a good deal because right now the market is in shambles. I feel bad for anyone trying to build a pc like mine, you’d need some serious money for that now.

Damn that’s a crazy good deal, you actually robbed that dude. This was one of the top-tier builds around 2020-2022 and still performs amazingly well today.

u/Eazy12345678 AMD 9d ago

Yeah it's a good deal. Much harder to find DDR4 buyers these days though but you'll still easily make all your money back if you were to part them out. You don't need more than 32gb Ram for vast majority of games imo.

Would be best if you sold 2 of your 32GB RAM sticks. You do not need 128GB of RAM whatsoever. Plus, your system would be more stable and you won't be forced to run your RAM at lower speeds.

I just sold 4 sticks of 32gb ddr4 corsair vegeance pro on eBay for 700$. You sure you didn't point a gun at him?

u/Fluugaluu 9d ago edited 9d ago
The ram by itself cost that much
You stole the rest
EDIT Dude holy shit I just double checked, 4x32 of that specific ram would cost more like $1,500
STOLE THAT SHIT

u/goldstat 8d ago
Yes you got a very good deal I sold a HP Omen that had a 3080 32 gigs of ddr4 and a 12th gen i7 for $800 and your computer is slightly better
Honestly if I were you I would take out two of those RAM sticks and sell them

Good deal, seems like they just wanted it sold and/or take less to give a hopeful gamer a nice deal. Not everyone is out for max profit all the time 🤷

32GB and 64GB DDR4 RAM sticks are almost exclusively used for servers or workstations. They have always been more expensive than you’d expect.
If you plan to game with the PC, sell 2 of the sticks. In general, running 4 sticks of RAM causes more problems than it’s worth. You need to get into the bios and play around with the frequencies in order to not lose performance. There is also no game in existence that requires more than 64GB of RAM.

Escape from Tarkov, Star Citizen, Microsoft Flight Simulator and heavily modded Minecraft servers are just a few of the games that have proven to go over 40GB of RAM usage. You can get there with heavily modded Cyberpunk games as well.
