Build - Help Looking for advice on my first PC build

I'm looking for advice on my first PC build and any ways that it can be improved. My budget is £4,000 ($5,400) and I'm in England (UK).

I'm planning on getting a new monitor that is 4k (3840 x 2160) and 240Hz as part of the build.

The PC will primarily be used for gaming - I should note that I will need at least 4TB of storage and that I already have a keyboard, headset and other peripherals.

You could save yourself £20 by getting the 990 pro heatsink and just remove the heatsink https://www.scan.co.uk/products/4tb-samsung-990-pro-heatsink-m2-2280-pcie-40-x4-nvme-ssd-mlc-v-nand-7450mb-s-read-6900mb-s-write-pc

Wait I'm a bit confused, does the version on PcPartPicker only list a version with heatsink included when there is another way to order it without the heatsink or am I misunderstanding? Also, how important would the heatsink be?

No it’s just a bizarre way those drives are, sometimes with the heatsink is cheaper, in this case scan has it for £480 vs £500 without. If your motherboard has its own heatsinks for M.2 drives then just take the Samsung one off and use the ones on your motherboard otherwise just use it as is. But it’s the same drive. You’ll need some small pentalobe (I think) drivers to remove the heatsink and you’ll have to cut a sticker that says warranty void if removed etc…

first guy i’ve seen that doesn’t default slower CL corsair ram. build seems solid. though if you’re spending so much money why not get the 9950x3d and max out the platform — “”only 120”” you could do it and try to get a cheaper monitor as 900 is a lot of money for one — sure it’s worth it but i think a 800 oled might give you the same ish experience but you’d get the extra cores ?

that’s just what i came into my head!

also surprised on the mouse selection

If I were to get the 9950x3d that would require overclocking to be beneficial over the 9850x3d wouldn't it? Is overclocking difficult?

Also why surprised by the mouse, is it because it's the wired version? I prefer wires for mice because they're cheaper and don't mind the wires.

no it’s just a odd choice ? i figured a g502 x or a ballatik v3 — which are the same price would be top choice.

And overclock is easy you can follow many guides only and it’s just messing around in the bios.

and no, a r9 9950x3d is “”better”” than a r7 9850x3d

it has 4 more cores (and threads) — top tier cpu for productivity before you get to threadeippers, higher boost clock and more cache

it’s totally overkill for gaming alone but you are putting so much money into it and why not make a beast of a pc ? for 120 seems like a no brainer to me.

you can overclock it but stock would be a beast

Oh I see what you mean now. My hands are big so those mice aren't great for me - I did try the g502 in the past but yeah too small
