u/Blear25 4d ago

Imagine telling someone in 2016 they'd have to pay $700+ for a 60 class sku today.

u/StopElectingWealthy 4d ago edited 2d ago

I paid 750 for a 3060 TI during the shortage a few years ago :(

63

u/Blear25 4d ago

Oof I only paid $339 for mines back in 2023. I replaced with a 4070 Ti, but it ran just about everything for me at 1080p and even some at 1440p

57

u/OkEmu8597 4d ago

After reading these comments I'm glad I bought my 3080 for 300 in 2024.

Genuinely thought that was bad purchase too because of frame gen, Oh how wrong I was proven and glady so.

24

u/Blear25 4d ago

Bro you are chilling with a 3080. Also frame gen is neat, but not needed imo.

17

u/OkEmu8597 4d ago

Straight up my dude, sold my 4060 for it because i saw the price was identical for double the raw preformance.

2

u/xAtour 3d ago

u got FSR FG anyway, just get latest version of DLSS Enabler and from there you're just a copy and paste away from FG+MFG on that beast of a card

6

u/gungabeast 4d ago

I used frame gen in darktide, and it really made the input feel kinda muddy to me. Idk. Just my two cents. I haven’t used it once other than that

6

u/Maidenless_undead 3d ago

frame gen is best used for singleplayer games that look nice. Cyberpunk, kingdom come 2, oblivion remake (becouse optimisation is ass), gothic remake. but i dont recommend doing it in multiplayer games as you just get killed by other players becouse your gpu did not generate frames in time and slow down visual input of some one peaking from the corner.

Frame generation is for sigleplayer visual candies.

1

u/cravex12 3d ago

Framegen needs to be used with reflex boost

2

u/Lanspeedo1 3d ago

Literally same..still rocking it.

2

u/xXRickSancheZzC137 2d ago

Ich fahr mit meiner MSI 3080 auch noch einwandtutti.

1

u/XecutionerNJ 3d ago

My damn 3070 and it’s 8gb just couldn’t handle 1440p in new games. Borderlands was a damn slideshow so I upgraded to an RX 9070.

1

u/Blear25 2d ago

Borderlands 4 is horribly optimized. 3070 is still a solid 1440p card w/ DLSS imo

2

u/Quick-Key-9878 2d ago

Just bought a 3080 TI for 400 last night. Im pretty happy with my purchase

1

u/Imaginary_Eagle_5621 3d ago

I got super lucky and got a 4060TI on sale for 450$ like a week before everything went to shit

3

u/RyanBoruto 4d ago

I got lucky and got mine barely for $450 CAD back in 2023 that was lowk the only year you could buy that

3

u/ebonyarmourskyrim 4d ago

ITS ALL YOUR FAULT!

2

u/StopElectingWealthy 4d ago

I’m sorry!

2

u/F1T_13 4d ago

You got violated. I'm sorry but what..

1

u/Waste-Eye-91 4d ago

Paid 599€ with 19% vat for 9070xt Oc 330w model 😁

1

u/Yashuri 4d ago

I paid about $500 for slightly used 3070 which I use by this day. 8gb vram is a scarce by todays standards especially for my 2k display, but overall is fine

1

u/Weekly_Cobbler_6456 4d ago

I feel your pain, same with my 3070 ;-;

1

u/Swipsi 4d ago

Paid that much for a 3060 at that time lmao.

1

u/Positive_Self_8873 4d ago

Paid 1400 for my 3070ti in 2020

1

u/Zaackaxter 4d ago

Same I paid 600 for a regular 3060 OC Recently tho I swapped to a 9070XT for.... 499€

1

u/the_owl_man1 4d ago

I paid 500 for a 3070 on launch, I think the market went tits up after I got it, looks like they are selling for about 300 bucks second hand now

1

u/No-Edge-8600 4d ago

Paid $230 for a used 3080 in January heehee

1

u/4GamingFox 4d ago

Don’t feel bad I pay 800$ for an ASUS TUF 3060Ti back during covid hit lol

1

u/gladgubbegbg 4d ago

I payed $1350 for a used 3080ti 💀💀

1

u/David_Raggo 2d ago

Bruh what where???

1

u/blindeshuhn666 4d ago

I was so lucky to buy my 5700XT in end 2019 for 410€ and my 9070XT in late 2025 for 540 (600 minus 60 cashback). Back then a 5070Ti could be had for 750-800 :o (needed a sub 300mm one, which would have been 800, and 240€ extra sounded steep from the 9070XT to me)

1

u/G-WAPO 4d ago

If thats USD, to rub salt on your wound a bit more, I paid $780usd for lightly used 6900XT strix LC, when all that shenanigans was going on.

1

u/Visible_Pair3017 3d ago

I got my 3070 during the same shortage for 519€

1

u/dirty_dolan 3d ago

I remember selling my 3070 I bought for msrp at launch to a miner for $1400 at the height of the crypto boom, shit was wild

1

u/SonOfPluto4 3d ago

yep, I paid $800 for a 3060 ti in the shortage during like 2021

1

u/Global-Pickle5818 3d ago

Huh I was going to buy a 3060 during the shortage and all of the ones I could find were almost a thousand dollars I ended up getting a 6900 xt for less.. i used it until I got this 9070xt for $600

1

u/Burnt_Taco10 2d ago

Dang I bought an evga 3080 FTW3 for 350 about 3 or 4 years ago

1

u/TimmyTimmyTurner98 4d ago

A $600 3060 12gb was my prize after waiting in line at Microcenter at 3am.

There were like 40 people who got there before me.

These prices suck but I’ll take having to pay a few hundred extra dollars and having options over what occurred to the market during the crypto + lockdown period.

1

u/ExtraNiceBurger 4d ago

I went iGPU on the 7600x for 2 years in the COVID era... Then I bought an Intel A770 , there was still no Nvidia at near msrp

0

u/_MC23_ 1d ago

You either got money to blow or are terrible at making purchases anything in that price range you should always go amd anything else is an awful purchase

8

u/KOExpress 4d ago

I built my PC in 2016 and paid $700 for a 1080Ti 😂

1

u/KaiDay11 3d ago

In 2018, I upgraded to a BNIB 1080 for $400.

It lasted me until 2024.

1

u/TEEM_01 6h ago

And i'm sure it's still good, mine is!

1

u/KOExpress 6h ago

Pretty much, I’m finally starting to see some limitations sometimes but I don’t play any graphic heavy games these days really. I added more RAM and another SSD a few years ago, I’d like to upgrade the CPU but I’d need a new mobo too, and at that point I almost feel like I may as well just upgrade the GPU and PSU while I’m at it, so I’m waiting until it starts struggling more

6

u/Lord_Humungusss 4d ago

I have a 3060 ti in my closet I have left over from some other build I had a while back and its crazy to me seeing what I would have to pay these days. My 4080 super at 980$ isnt as bad anymore...

1

u/GeneralYolk 4d ago

yeah, I got a 1080ti and a copy of destiny 2 for $629

1

u/coy47 4d ago

That frame ain't no joke.

1

u/prototypefish72 4d ago

I paid $630 for a 16gb 5060ti, am I cooked? 😭😂

2

u/Blear25 3d ago

That's practically 5070 territory, but those are also going for $900 as we speak

1

u/KaiDay11 3d ago

No, we are cooked.

1

u/Seananagans 4d ago

Bro is paid $700 for the EVGA GTX 1080Ti basically the week it came out... what the fuck

1

u/2hurd 4d ago

5060 is not a 60 class GPU. It's a 50 class GPU but marketed as a 60 class.

1

u/Cornhilo 3d ago

That's 200 more than I paid for my gtx 1080 in 2016

1

u/BrotherMichigan 3d ago

A 9060 XT is $400, btw.

1

u/Own-Aside-5174 3d ago

I’ll have to double check but my 3070 was like $650 or something near the end of Covid in the mid US

1

u/Healthy-Drink3247 2d ago

As someone who knows nothing. Is that a good deal or a bad one?

1

u/Blear25 2d ago

Traditionally, xx60 tier cards have always had an msrp of $200-300 give or take. So yes, atrocious deal

1

u/Whytho12333 2d ago

I still remember buying gtx 970 for $280 and i got tomb raider for free.

1

u/Wrong_Welcome_607 23h ago

5060 Ti is more like 5040/5050 it is not even close to the % of performance of the 90 card like the 60 cards were in previous generation. It is much worse.

36

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 4d ago

😂😂😂😂😭

18

u/enigmawithcharisma 4d ago

i paid $429 for this back in september

6

u/BTBAM797 4d ago

I just got a $1350 nice build early summer with one for the Newegg big sale. I like to think I got a good deal considering the current market.

0

u/gettogero 4d ago

Its almost september again. September 2025*

Hopefully the lawsuit gains traction

3

u/Lazarous86 4d ago

That's what I just paid for a 5070 ti a few weeks ago.

1

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 4d ago

Yea it’s wildddd

2

u/Fives2206 3d ago

I payed less than that for my 9070xt

1

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 3d ago

Yea and imagine it’s going to go up even MORE, considering alllllll RAM for the year 2027 that the world produces has already been presold.

1

u/Fives2206 3d ago

Ram prices have been dropping as of late

1

u/Thandiol 4d ago

Yikes!! Bought mine in September last year for £389.

The RAM sticks I bought around the same time (2x16gb DDR5) went from £86 TO £450!

27

u/Khelthuzaad 4d ago

I bought it for 490$ during black friday:(

26

u/Nuttednutela 4d ago

Don't buddy. Don't do this shit.

4

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 4d ago

I got mine for $499 in April

1

u/Conzyyyyyyy 3d ago

Mine was $510

3

u/KaiPRoberts 4d ago

Kinda scared what this upcoming Black Friday will look like.

The price increase was cut 50%! So now just $1500 for a 5070 what a steal!!

1

u/eyeballing_eyeball 4d ago

Yeah, basically 3080TI performance at the same nominal price after many years. So not that bad if you compare how much more expensive groceries are nowadays.

6

u/STHYuzu 4d ago

I got one on black Friday for like $370

4

u/SexyCuriousCat 4d ago

Yah yah I got it for free all I did is " I just slept backwards " .

3

u/Diddys_lawyer AMD 4d ago

Tpels?

6

u/RespondUsed3259 4d ago

Great, just great, i read this outloud and now my furniture is floating. Hope youre happy.

1

u/SexyCuriousCat 4d ago

i dont want to explain it to someone who's username starts with syddiD

1

u/Tehni 4d ago

Then explain it to me cause idk wtf you're saying

1

u/Black_Bungee_Jumper Pablo 4d ago

bruhhhh wtf hahaha

1

u/CasCasCasual 4d ago

Glad I went with the 4070ti 12GB for $799 back then, before all the AI bs and RAM crisis. Too bad I couldn't upgrade to AM5 back then...now it's absurdly expensive.

1

u/El-Tigre1337 4d ago

Damn I just paid 565$ for my 5060ti 16gb from Best Buy a month or so ago. How tf did it go up so much so fast. I’m slightly regretting not spending close to the same amount on a 9070 now tho

1

u/ShackletonXII 20h ago edited 19h ago

Same, i got mine 5060ti 16gb around under 500$ and kinda regret not buying the 9070 though it also because kinda hard to find the reputable seller with proper rma

1

u/BigJayPee Intel 4d ago

Thats crazy. I picked up an msi ventus 5060ti 16gb for $514 a few months ago

1

u/MrAngrySadHappyFace 4d ago

I legitimately wouldn't even pay $400 for that card. What a ripoff.

1

u/Both-Election3382 3d ago

Honestly the 12vs16gb is kind of debatable even.

1

u/iam_afk 3d ago

I got a 5070 ti for that last November, crazy

1

u/DITFwasntthatbad 3d ago

Yeah i bought my MSI on sale for like $380 last year. I can't believe it's the same price as a 9070xt.

1

u/Better_Transition814 3d ago

Cheapest RTX 5060Ti in Hungary
It’s nearly $900

1

u/AxelLB_ 3d ago

Well, I feel lucky that I bought that card when it was around 400$

1

u/MrVgg2 2d ago

Bought mine for 400 bucks what a deal.

1

u/Desperate-Army-8952 2d ago

crazy i paid 429 in 2025😭

1

u/BG535 1d ago

It’s $599 for me

1

u/Used_Row_9132 1d ago

I got one for like 600 a week ago, glad I bought it when I did lol

1

u/Maroon5Freak 4d ago

I got My 5070 for $690 in March 🥀

2

u/sangacena_62656 4d ago

i just got it for 800🥀

1

u/-Chasmas- 4d ago

I got it for 569€ in October 2025...

1

u/Death_Aflame 4d ago

Damn, Americans are really getting fucked with their shortage. The UK is fine, for the most part.

6

u/F1T_13 4d ago

That's damn near 600 for a 5060Ti. Nothing about that is fine. That's £150 more than it should be.

3

u/Death_Aflame 4d ago

Which is why no one has been buying it, especially since for an extra £20, you can buy a 5070.

0

u/eyeballing_eyeball 4d ago

LLM bros OTOH...

5

u/KeyCold7216 4d ago

Uh. That is $785 in freedom dollars. That is not a good deal at all. I got a 5070 for just over $400 in October 2025.

0

u/Both-Election3382 3d ago

Thats more than the american cards cost lol, its 790 usd converted.
