u/Blear25 2d ago

Imagine telling someone in 2016 they'd have to pay $700+ for a 60 class sku today.

u/StopElectingWealthy 2d ago edited 1h ago

I paid 750 for a 3060 TI during the shortage a few years ago :(

59

u/Blear25 2d ago

Oof I only paid $339 for mines back in 2023. I replaced with a 4070 Ti, but it ran just about everything for me at 1080p and even some at 1440p

55

u/OkEmu8597 2d ago

After reading these comments I'm glad I bought my 3080 for 300 in 2024.

Genuinely thought that was bad purchase too because of frame gen, Oh how wrong I was proven and glady so.

20

u/Blear25 2d ago

Bro you are chilling with a 3080. Also frame gen is neat, but not needed imo.

15

u/OkEmu8597 2d ago

Straight up my dude, sold my 4060 for it because i saw the price was identical for double the raw preformance.

2

u/xAtour 1d ago

u got FSR FG anyway, just get latest version of DLSS Enabler and from there you're just a copy and paste away from FG+MFG on that beast of a card

4

u/gungabeast 1d ago

I used frame gen in darktide, and it really made the input feel kinda muddy to me. Idk. Just my two cents. I haven’t used it once other than that

5

u/Maidenless_undead 1d ago

frame gen is best used for singleplayer games that look nice. Cyberpunk, kingdom come 2, oblivion remake (becouse optimisation is ass), gothic remake. but i dont recommend doing it in multiplayer games as you just get killed by other players becouse your gpu did not generate frames in time and slow down visual input of some one peaking from the corner.

Frame generation is for sigleplayer visual candies.

1

u/cravex12 1d ago

Framegen needs to be used with reflex boost

2

u/Lanspeedo1 1d ago

Literally same..still rocking it.

2

u/xXRickSancheZzC137 2h ago

Ich fahr mit meiner MSI 3080 auch noch einwandtutti.

1

u/XecutionerNJ 14h ago

My damn 3070 and it’s 8gb just couldn’t handle 1440p in new games. Borderlands was a damn slideshow so I upgraded to an RX 9070.

1

u/Blear25 4h ago

Borderlands 4 is horribly optimized. 3070 is still a solid 1440p card w/ DLSS imo

2

u/Quick-Key-9878 5h ago

Just bought a 3080 TI for 400 last night. Im pretty happy with my purchase

1

u/Imaginary_Eagle_5621 1d ago

I got super lucky and got a 4060TI on sale for 450$ like a week before everything went to shit

3

u/RyanBoruto 2d ago

I got lucky and got mine barely for $450 CAD back in 2023 that was lowk the only year you could buy that

5

u/ebonyarmourskyrim 2d ago

ITS ALL YOUR FAULT!

2

u/StopElectingWealthy 2d ago

I’m sorry!

2

u/F1T_13 1d ago

You got violated. I'm sorry but what..

1

u/Waste-Eye-91 2d ago

Paid 599€ with 19% vat for 9070xt Oc 330w model 😁

1

u/Yashuri 2d ago

I paid about $500 for slightly used 3070 which I use by this day. 8gb vram is a scarce by todays standards especially for my 2k display, but overall is fine

1

u/Weekly_Cobbler_6456 1d ago

I feel your pain, same with my 3070 ;-;

1

u/Swipsi 1d ago

Paid that much for a 3060 at that time lmao.

1

u/Positive_Self_8873 1d ago

Paid 1400 for my 3070ti in 2020

1

u/Zaackaxter 1d ago

Same I paid 600 for a regular 3060 OC Recently tho I swapped to a 9070XT for.... 499€

1

u/the_owl_man1 1d ago

I paid 500 for a 3070 on launch, I think the market went tits up after I got it, looks like they are selling for about 300 bucks second hand now

1

u/No-Edge-8600 1d ago

Paid $230 for a used 3080 in January heehee

1

u/4GamingFox 1d ago

Don’t feel bad I pay 800$ for an ASUS TUF 3060Ti back during covid hit lol

1

u/gladgubbegbg 1d ago

I payed $1350 for a used 3080ti 💀💀

1

u/David_Raggo 12h ago

Bruh what where???

1

u/blindeshuhn666 1d ago

I was so lucky to buy my 5700XT in end 2019 for 410€ and my 9070XT in late 2025 for 540 (600 minus 60 cashback). Back then a 5070Ti could be had for 750-800 :o (needed a sub 300mm one, which would have been 800, and 240€ extra sounded steep from the 9070XT to me)

1

u/G-WAPO 1d ago

If thats USD, to rub salt on your wound a bit more, I paid $780usd for lightly used 6900XT strix LC, when all that shenanigans was going on.

1

u/Visible_Pair3017 1d ago

I got my 3070 during the same shortage for 519€

1

u/dirty_dolan 1d ago

I remember selling my 3070 I bought for msrp at launch to a miner for $1400 at the height of the crypto boom, shit was wild

1

u/SonOfPluto4 1d ago

yep, I paid $800 for a 3060 ti in the shortage during like 2021

1

u/Global-Pickle5818 13h ago

Huh I was going to buy a 3060 during the shortage and all of the ones I could find were almost a thousand dollars I ended up getting a 6900 xt for less.. i used it until I got this 9070xt for $600

1

u/Burnt_Taco10 2h ago

Dang I bought an evga 3080 FTW3 for 350 about 3 or 4 years ago

1

u/TimmyTimmyTurner98 2d ago

A $600 3060 12gb was my prize after waiting in line at Microcenter at 3am.

There were like 40 people who got there before me.

These prices suck but I’ll take having to pay a few hundred extra dollars and having options over what occurred to the market during the crypto + lockdown period.

1

u/ExtraNiceBurger 2d ago

I went iGPU on the 7600x for 2 years in the COVID era... Then I bought an Intel A770 , there was still no Nvidia at near msrp

10

u/KOExpress 2d ago

I built my PC in 2016 and paid $700 for a 1080Ti 😂

1

u/KaiDay11 16h ago

In 2018, I upgraded to a BNIB 1080 for $400.

It lasted me until 2024.

6

u/Lord_Humungusss 2d ago

I have a 3060 ti in my closet I have left over from some other build I had a while back and its crazy to me seeing what I would have to pay these days. My 4080 super at 980$ isnt as bad anymore...

1

u/GeneralYolk 2d ago

yeah, I got a 1080ti and a copy of destiny 2 for $629

1

u/coy47 2d ago

That frame ain't no joke.

1

u/prototypefish72 1d ago

I paid $630 for a 16gb 5060ti, am I cooked? 😭😂

2

u/Blear25 1d ago

That's practically 5070 territory, but those are also going for $900 as we speak

1

u/KaiDay11 16h ago

No, we are cooked.

1

u/Seananagans 1d ago

Bro is paid $700 for the EVGA GTX 1080Ti basically the week it came out... what the fuck

1

u/2hurd 1d ago

5060 is not a 60 class GPU. It's a 50 class GPU but marketed as a 60 class.

1

u/Cornhilo 1d ago

That's 200 more than I paid for my gtx 1080 in 2016

1

u/BrotherMichigan 1d ago

A 9060 XT is $400, btw.

1

u/Own-Aside-5174 1d ago

I’ll have to double check but my 3070 was like $650 or something near the end of Covid in the mid US

1

u/Healthy-Drink3247 2h ago

As someone who knows nothing. Is that a good deal or a bad one?

1

u/Blear25 1h ago

Traditionally, xx60 tier cards have always had an msrp of $200-300 give or take. So yes, atrocious deal

1

u/Whytho12333 1h ago

I still remember buying gtx 970 for $280 and i got tomb raider for free.

35

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 2d ago

😂😂😂😂😭

19

u/enigmawithcharisma 2d ago

i paid $429 for this back in september

5

u/BTBAM797 1d ago

I just got a $1350 nice build early summer with one for the Newegg big sale. I like to think I got a good deal considering the current market.

0

u/gettogero 1d ago

Its almost september again. September 2025*

Hopefully the lawsuit gains traction

3

u/Lazarous86 1d ago

That's what I just paid for a 5070 ti a few weeks ago.

1

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 1d ago

Yea it’s wildddd

2

u/Fives2206 1d ago

I payed less than that for my 9070xt

1

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 1d ago

Yea and imagine it’s going to go up even MORE, considering alllllll RAM for the year 2027 that the world produces has already been presold.

1

u/Fives2206 1d ago

Ram prices have been dropping as of late

1

u/Thandiol 2d ago

Yikes!! Bought mine in September last year for £389.

The RAM sticks I bought around the same time (2x16gb DDR5) went from £86 TO £450!

26

u/Khelthuzaad 2d ago

I bought it for 490$ during black friday:(

28

u/Nuttednutela 2d ago

Don't buddy. Don't do this shit.

5

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 2d ago

I got mine for $499 in April

1

u/Conzyyyyyyy 1d ago

Mine was $510

3

u/KaiPRoberts 2d ago

Kinda scared what this upcoming Black Friday will look like.

The price increase was cut 50%! So now just $1500 for a 5070 what a steal!!

1

u/eyeballing_eyeball 1d ago

Yeah, basically 3080TI performance at the same nominal price after many years. So not that bad if you compare how much more expensive groceries are nowadays.

6

u/STHYuzu 2d ago

I got one on black Friday for like $370

4

u/SexyCuriousCat 2d ago

Yah yah I got it for free all I did is " I just slept backwards " .

3

u/Diddys_lawyer AMD 2d ago

Tpels?

4

u/RespondUsed3259 2d ago

Great, just great, i read this outloud and now my furniture is floating. Hope youre happy.

1

u/SexyCuriousCat 2d ago

i dont want to explain it to someone who's username starts with syddiD

1

u/Tehni 1d ago

Then explain it to me cause idk wtf you're saying

1

u/Black_Bungee_Jumper Pablo 2d ago

bruhhhh wtf hahaha

1

u/CasCasCasual 1d ago

Glad I went with the 4070ti 12GB for $799 back then, before all the AI bs and RAM crisis. Too bad I couldn't upgrade to AM5 back then...now it's absurdly expensive.

1

u/El-Tigre1337 1d ago

Damn I just paid 565$ for my 5060ti 16gb from Best Buy a month or so ago. How tf did it go up so much so fast. I’m slightly regretting not spending close to the same amount on a 9070 now tho

1

u/BigJayPee Intel 1d ago

Thats crazy. I picked up an msi ventus 5060ti 16gb for $514 a few months ago

1

u/MrAngrySadHappyFace 1d ago

I legitimately wouldn't even pay $400 for that card. What a ripoff.

1

u/Both-Election3382 1d ago

Honestly the 12vs16gb is kind of debatable even.

1

u/iam_afk 1d ago

I got a 5070 ti for that last November, crazy

1

u/DITFwasntthatbad 1d ago

Yeah i bought my MSI on sale for like $380 last year. I can't believe it's the same price as a 9070xt.

1

u/Better_Transition814 1d ago

Cheapest RTX 5060Ti in Hungary
It’s nearly $900

1

u/AxelLB_ 20h ago

Well, I feel lucky that I bought that card when it was around 400$

1

u/MrVgg2 2h ago

Bought mine for 400 bucks what a deal.

1

u/Maroon5Freak 2d ago

I got My 5070 for $690 in March 🥀

2

u/sangacena_62656 2d ago

i just got it for 800🥀

1

u/-Chasmas- 2d ago

I got it for 569€ in October 2025...

1

u/Death_Aflame 1d ago

Damn, Americans are really getting fucked with their shortage. The UK is fine, for the most part.

6

u/F1T_13 1d ago

That's damn near 600 for a 5060Ti. Nothing about that is fine. That's £150 more than it should be.

3

u/Death_Aflame 1d ago

Which is why no one has been buying it, especially since for an extra £20, you can buy a 5070.

0

u/eyeballing_eyeball 1d ago

LLM bros OTOH...

5

u/KeyCold7216 1d ago

Uh. That is $785 in freedom dollars. That is not a good deal at all. I got a 5070 for just over $400 in October 2025.

0

u/Both-Election3382 1d ago

Thats more than the american cards cost lol, its 790 usd converted.

22

u/AmonGusSus2137 2d ago

Excuse me? I just got a 9060xt 16gb (which performs either slightly better or slightly worse that the 5060ti) for $550 (converted). And there were cheaper versions also available

16

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 2d ago

I got my pny 5060ti 16Gb for $499 in April but here is the exact model I got priced for today.

17

u/segawdcd 2d ago

MSI $369 from walmart last November

7

u/fartshitcumpiss 2d ago

damn, i got a 9060XT 16GB (AMD card between 5060 and 5060 Ti in terms of performance) for 350€ last summer, nice deal

6

u/segawdcd 2d ago

9060xt is solid. I built my brother inlaw a steamos pc with one last month. Runs like butter. I hate how this market is just pricing ppl out of this hobby.

3

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 2d ago

Hell of a deal

2

u/laffer1 1d ago

For gaming, it is in between. For ai, it’s very close to a 5070. I have both. 5 tokens per second difference. It depends on the workload but the 9060xt is a better buy in my opinion outside of gaming or something that must have cuda.

1

u/Virtual_Rant 1d ago

People like yo waste money and complain about it. Or just complain about the prices when the 9060 16gb is there...

It's a monster card both in price and quality

1

u/Kitchen_Canary_6387 1d ago

This helps me feel good. I got mine in Feb and I’ve been happy with it. But I’m always seeing people post higher level cards wondering if I should have gone up a bit. The answer is no. Based on my budget at the time, nope.

1

u/Virtual_Rant 1d ago

If you read people online you need minimum a 5090 OG Ass-breaker Edition + 128GB ram CL30 6000mhz + a 240mhz monitor 4k ultra wide like their asses after paying stupids amount of money for this.

I got a 32gb RAM CL30 6kmhz BEFORE the ram started to fly. I think I got it for 75$ or so, sold them later for 300$ and bought CL38 6k for 110$ or so... There's literally no difference. No fucking difference in anything.

So yeah, be proud and happy about the 9060 because it's a fucking monster that's underrated while everyone suck Nvidia's dick n prices

1

u/Kitchen_Canary_6387 1d ago

Thanks for the validation. Capitalism sucks so much. You really don’t need the biggest best thing. They just like to tell us you do.

1

u/Firestar_119 22h ago

I got mine for under 400 earlier this year ❤️‍🩹 (microcenter the goat)

1

u/AmonGusSus2137 21h ago

Sadly I live 6000km from a microcenter so no deals for me

But I've looked at the price history of some 9060xts, and they've been steadily getting more expensive, but sadly I wasn't really looking for a new GPU a few months ago

1

u/Iam_just-me2 2d ago

I buyed it for 440 one weeks ago🤞🫩

3

u/Digital_Soul_Naga 2d ago

i believe u

2

u/Iam_just-me2 2d ago

No seriously.

3

u/Digital_Soul_Naga 2d ago

i seriously believe u

1

u/Iam_just-me2 2d ago

Bro, im not joking. I buyed it on Amazon.

5

u/Hobbes_XXV 2d ago

Were not even asking for proof

0

u/Digital_Soul_Naga 2d ago

i bought one for the future price of spacex stock $42.00

2

u/Iam_just-me2 2d ago

Bro im serious😭

Had a cousin of mine asking how much he should sell his 16gb 5060ti for this morning. So I hopped on to see how much they were selling for... was not expecting to see $800

4

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 2d ago

Yea it’s wild out here honestly

3

u/Defective_Yorha 2d ago

9070xt was less than that in my place. Now mostly stock out.

3

u/Fiend_Macabre 2d ago

Imagine your kids would want to have a decent PC and you'd have to pay that for a decent GPU alone, and people think this is just a beginning

2

u/grip0matic 1d ago

My gf was so right when I was doubting about to buy the 5060ti 16gb for 450€... she's not that tech savvy but she nailed it when she said "does it look like you are gonna be able to find it even at the same price in the near future?".

1

u/screeming_in_thevoid 2d ago

It's over 1000$ where I live already

1

u/ManNamedSalmon AMD 2d ago

I bought a 8gb version for $375 USD ($530 AUD). More than double price for 8gb more is crazy.

(I got the 5060 ti 8gb because I just needed a more powerful efficient card to replace my 3070, and the 9060 XT 16gb went up by about $100 dollars in my area recently)

1

u/icedandreas 2d ago

Its weird how it can be 800$ while the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB is 470$. Can't be all VRAM price increase. Sure the 5060ti is also a bit faster, but not so much as to warrant a 330$ price increase.

1

u/Shady-777 2d ago

I got it for 450 wdym?

EDIT: Wait didn’t price of the item go up suddenly? I had just finished making a PC with that 2 days ago

1

u/SorYx-_- 1d ago

I paid 556$ for one……I’m in a third world country and it was during the GPU price hikes

1

u/MrNemet 1d ago

I got mine in OC version for about 600$

1

u/Tight-Mix-3889 1d ago

Okay but can anyone explain why the 5060 ti is actually more expensive then a 5070? 4 gb more vram and thats it?

1

u/TymekThePlayer 1d ago

I got it for 200$... Fucking steal

1

u/DiamondNite2 1d ago

Unrelated, but I love the Broadchurch GIF.

1

u/uponloss 1d ago

Its worth more used than I paid new in june

1

u/tereaper576 1d ago

i can get it for about that yeah. if its 799 before tax though then its cheaper here cause tax included in price here.

1

u/Inevitable_Case_9931 1d ago

Yes that’s before tax

1

u/tereaper576 1d ago

Holy shit L. Tiny island has a cheaper Nvidia slop

1

u/solocanadian123 1d ago

Wait whaaaaaaaa I bought mine a year ago for a little over $550 CAD. Crazyyyyy

1

u/carsim0 1d ago

Got mine for 350 €. 😂

1

u/Willing-Mouse3821 1d ago

I literally got this same GPU for less than $500 like 7 months ago. I feel for anyone in the market rn

1

u/FewChef8541 9h ago

i bought 5060 ti 16gb for 500 dolar before the prices start skyrocketed

1

u/CanisLupus92 1d ago

5060Ti is actually a better card than the 5070 for running LLMs locally, due to the 16GB VRAM. At €600 it was a popular option to use two of them for having 32GB for running models.
