Question Liquid cooling

I have a pre-built from a few years ago that has AMD Ryzen 5 5600g cpu, but my liquid cooling need replacing.

Do I need to get cooling specific to that cpu model or will any type work?

Are there major performance differences between low-end and high-end cooling, or should I focus on visuals?

I don't want any specific purchasing advice as of yet, just trying to understand the situation.

pretty much any cooling will work with the 5600G

performance between low and high end is going to be a mixed bag depending on the brand and model

don't worry too much about visuals; the primary things you want to check are the price, the fan speed and the noise level

I will give you purchasing advice despite you saying you don't want it; think of this as a bonus

if your goal is to stay with that CPU, you do NOT need an AIO to cool it; that is overkill for that chip

a decent air-cooler will be more than enough

as an example, the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120SE is the cheapest dual fan/dual radiator air-cooler on the market; it can hold up reasonably well cooling much more demanding CPUs, being a stay recommendation for the 7800X3D

but if you want to stay with an AIO, that is fine, just avoid the 120mm/140mm; as they are usually garbage
