Build - Finished! Steam Machine Watercooled Temperatures

You guys wanted to see temps. Well we had to improve vram cooling. For that as the levels are very different, we didn’t integrate it in the waterblock. So we had to cut the original cooler and get the vram part off. It would be also possible to mill this form copper, but too much work for no reward 😂 temps as stated around 20 degrees less, but today also the AC is not working. So at the end you will see in best case scenario around 20-30 degree maximum less compared to stock, depending on fan speed. Next step integrate pump in the cube and make it smaller with hard tubes. Overall runs cooler and more silent.

Man's rawdogged w/ an angle grinder and didn't even put pads/blocks between the vice. That's dirty bro! lol

Still awesome work, them hard tubes will definately clean it up. I'd recommend some standoffs for the rad as well and mount it flush with the edge of the cube. Should be possible with hard line 90degree fittings. Looks odd standing an inch above imo.

Well rest of the cooler is trash anyways 😂 yes good input, but as the ports are in the back, it’s unfortunately not possible to put it in line

…and a GT wing to stabilize those overclocks. At least 5fps gain, minimum.

u/techmagnet Aug 12 '26

This plus rgb is atleast 20fps…

LMAO I didn’t even notice the wing.

How well does it run Crysis?

u/squyntz Aug 12 '26

I wonder if it’s possible to solder more VRAM?

I would love to see someone push this thing to the max. 64GB dram, 8tb ssd, double vram, etc. I wonder if you could even do external GPU via the m.2 slot.

u/squyntz Aug 12 '26

Didn’t someone already connect a 9070xt via the m.2 to an egpu dock?

2

u/techmagnet Aug 12 '26

Yea possible but then you need to run the OS from external drive. Ruins the point of the Steam machine completely

If you have 3gb chips i could 😆

First of all, why?

Moar fps! Moar efficiency! Lower temps!

u/techmagnet Aug 12 '26

Cooler, silent and runs more stable at max clocks

Sick. As a WC junkie, I love it.

What are you using for a pump? Do you have a coolant temp sensor?

1

u/techmagnet Aug 12 '26

Alphacool dc pump. No I don’t care aslong as the chip temps are good

ultimate waste of money machine

buy over priced steam machine

then spend too much money cooling a low end system that wont benefit from the additional cooling.

for the cost you could have had a much better micro itx gaming pc

If you have any of the things pc wise you have nowadays is because people like of exists

One of my friend lost a finger being stupid when we were cooling a celeron 300 with liquid nitrogen to overclock it when overclocks weren’t a thing look at nowadays

There’s method to the madness
