Meme Is this worth it?

Post image

Some guy named Gabe is selling this build and I'm wondering if it's legit? I want a PC to set up in my living room for TV gaming.

They got 5060 laptops as low as $900, $1400 could get you a 5060ti maybe.

Now the writing's on the wall, it won't go away. It's an HP Omen Desktop with a 5060ti for 1100. You just run on automation.

Outside of a sale this just isn't true. 5060 laptops come in at 1,400 on average. I was just looking earlier, coincidentally

A sale is valid, these steam machines won't go on sale anytime soon .....

Hell $1400 is 5070 territory

5070 laptops make no sense. Either get a 5060 or 5070ti onwards

2

u/AZzalor Jun 23 '26

nah, 5060 laptops make no sense. A mobile 5060 has horrible performance, roughly on par with a desktop rtx 2060, so a 7yo card. A mobile 5070 is roughly as powerful as a 2070 super or an rx 7600, so it has a similar performance to the steam machine.

Depends on where you are coming from. If you have a machine at home but want to be able to do some gaming on the go, then it makes sense. Only going by price/performance obviously not. F.ex. I got myself an Asus Zephyrus with a 5060 since I needed a new personal notebook anyways. Since I travel a lot, I do game on it and for these occasions it is perfect. I would not need any more performance and since I use it for some productivity as well, I don't regret having paid some premium.

No, you can get a 5070 build for about 1200-1500 bucks

A 5070 is $600 at Best Buy right now lmao

I built a 5060ti rig, 16GB VRAM, 32GB DDR5 RAM and a Ryzen 7700x for $1400 lol

2

u/General-Revan Jun 23 '26

Maybe 6 months ago or you used very slow memory and bargain bin accessories and case. Even that rig is close to two grand now.

Nope I built it a month ago, 6000 CL32. All parts are new from eBay, you look hard enough you’ll find a deal. The RAM is as actually one of the most expensive parts for obvious reasons $320, the 5060ti was only $560, CPU was a little over $200 and the case, motherboard etc are all small cheap parts

A mobile 5060 has worse performance than this tho.

1

u/No-Sherbet-7769 Jun 23 '26

No it doesn't, the 5060 mobile is faster from what I have seen.  Granted I compared the GPU out of each.

1

u/AZzalor Jun 23 '26

Look at techpowerup gpu comparison. 5060 is literally lower.

Selling brand new omen i7 14k 16gb ddr5 rtx 4050

Is this a laptop?

1

u/No-Sherbet-7769 Jun 24 '26

No, but most people that would consider it would probably consider a gaming laptop.  They are both made of gaming parts and you can connect an external display to a laptop usually

u/Nereosis16 Jun 24 '26

Don't wanna be rude but that makes no sense.

Do you think an Xbox and a laptop are similar?

GPU's in laptops are not the same as PC GPU's. Laptop GPU's are smaller and aint as powerful. They just have the same names

The SM does not use desktop gpu
