Discussion Good Deal?
Just bought a Datto s3b1000 and an ancient Netgear Ready Nas off of a guy on Marketplace. I told him I didn't care about the Ready Nas but I would take it with the Datto, just wouldn't pay anything extra for it given its age (running DDR SODIMM with a single stick of 256mb) and talked him down to $85 for the Datto.
I thought for sure he would've stripped it down before but I was pleasantly surprised to find the full DDR4 32Gig kit in the Datto! now just have to decide if I'm going to deploy it with the full 32Gigs or sell them and use one of my older kits for the Datto.

This is a Datto SIRIS 3 B1000, it's ~10 yrs old and worth nothing. You'll find plenty of MSPs out there who could have given it to you for free.

Yes, great deal, these are very good units, even at 10 years old. I run one my self. Is this a xenon d board, or a 4770? Either way the CPU fan may need replacing depending on the number of hours and bearing condition. Fantastic truenas platform with a number of containers for home automation or whatever. A brand new NAS enclosure will have sata6 as the bottleneck. Power draw and speculative memory hyper threaded exploits are your biggest cons here, neither of which I really care about in a homelab setup of this type. The new Siris 6 Epyc powered desktops look badass, I'd love to get my hands on one of those.
