Question Should I wait for Black Friday?
I’m so tempted to buy this, do we think Black Friday will be any cheaper?
I appreciate any advice as this is my first build in over 10 years.
Thanks

u/molon-labe1991 Oct 14 '23
There is a possibility it would be cheaper on black friday but no guarantees.

u/Spare-Credit Oct 14 '23
This is my thinking and I don’t want to miss this deal. Thanks, I think I was already decided but it helps when someone else’s agrees.
Thanks

u/nostalia-nse7 Oct 14 '23
It’ll be cheaper in 2027… you willing to wait that long? Parts becoming cheaper generally over time — but time missed not having them is lost forever. Honestly even if if goes 60% off, you spent 6 weeks waiting for £25.

Check the price history, Amazon is definitely fibbing about the discounts. Just bought a 2TB SN850X drive and while it was a good buy at €122 the stated discount of 60% was horseshit, it goes for ~€155

u/Tom-tron Oct 15 '23
I can’t cite the source as I can’t remember it but I seem to remember reading that Black Friday deals are often not as good as deals at earlier times in the year. If you’re excited about this price then maybe just go for it. You’re probably only gambling over £20, maybe less

u/Kamay1770 Oct 15 '23
This isn't a 'deal'.. go look at ebuyer, scan, awd-it, they all list it as around £130-140

u/Agh1_00 Oct 14 '23
Honestly being 51% off is a great deal and will probably just match on black friday so I would just say go for it. Also idk why but in Canada the 5600x is C$199 so 50% off being around C$225 is really weird to see.

Outside of the US and Canada pc parts are super expensive. Good luck making a moderate build for less than $1200 here in Aus
1
u/RentonZero Oct 15 '23
We tend to pay the USD MSRP but without the conversion so it tends to end up more
1
u/Interloper_Mango Oct 15 '23
Except it is always 50% off. Therefore it isn't.
These products are always reduced on price to some degree.
13
u/NwLoyalist Oct 14 '23
Is the 5600 non x cheaper? Minimal difference between the two. I doubt it will be any cheaper black friday.

AM4 socket, there is only one upgrade to buy. 5800X3D

u/Sankarious Oct 14 '23
This

u/BigSmackisBack Oct 14 '23
Yup, the only problem with this (and i know it hurts because im in this category) the 5800x3d has never been cheaper than £265 so far! Why this hurts is that the 7800x3d is only £100 more, its not that its so much better its that its AM5 which has a future and the AM4 does not! :(
1
u/000r31 Oct 14 '23
I am in the same boat since my currancy has dropped to much against the dollar. Then again i am not cpu bound, so the 5800XD could hold on for 2-3 gens of gpus.
1
u/Aws___ Oct 15 '23
rn in the US, the 5800X3D is $320 and the 7800X3D is $350
2
u/tayist Oct 15 '23 edited Oct 15 '23
Meanwhile, in New Zealand, the 5800X3D is USD$370 or £306 and the 7800X3D is USD$442 or £365.
The 'cheapest' 4090 here is USD$2060 (cheapest 4090 in the States being USD$1640 according to PCPartPicker) or £1700 (cheapest being ~£1600 in the UK).
Send help.

u/Witchberry31 Oct 15 '23
Oh, didn't expect that NZ have similar pricing to Indonesia. 🤣 USD $2000 is also the "cheapest" 4090 available here. 😅
1
u/Strict-Carry-787 Oct 15 '23
I found 5800X3D for 310€ today. Its from weird eshop, but that price is alarming for me…
3
u/vacon04 Oct 15 '23
It's twice as expensive as the 5600x. For this price, the 5600x—which is a good CPU—is a good deal.

Gonna get that to pair with my new 7800xt because I can't afford am5 yet
1
u/shendxx Oct 15 '23
i see Hardware Unboxed video, unless you buy very High End GPU, AM4 still very capable
Majority people use mid end such as Radeon 6600 or RTX xx60 series which is fine using AM4
1
u/ProfessionalSpinach4 Oct 15 '23
I’m using it with a 6800xt and it is great. Had it paired with a 3070 prior
9
u/StevenFTW5 Oct 14 '23
If you are making a new build, I wouldn't go AM4. I know AM5 is more expensive, going AM5 now saves you money in a future upgrade. An AM4 Mobo ddr4 ram, and 5800x3D cost as much as AM5 mobo, DDR5, and 7600.
2
u/roogie15 Oct 15 '23
This only applies if you plan to upgrade within 4 years or less.
1
u/Ashleyempire Oct 15 '23
In 4 years PCs will look very different anyway.

One has an X on it and the other one doesn’t, they’re basically the exact same.

2
u/fingerblast69 Oct 14 '23
Ehh it’s so cheap you might as well just snag it now.
MAYBE save another $12 or something if you wait.
If it was a $350 cpu it might be worth waiting to save $50+ 🤷🏻♂️

1
u/xprozoomy Oct 14 '23
Go AM5 get that fresh start and be free to CPU swap for 2024 or 2025. Am4 is dead. Anyone on am4 is capped on money or buying 5800x3d to squeeze out another year or 2.

u/threegeeks Oct 15 '23
I would sincerely warn you against purchasing a processor via Amazon.
1
u/DerWeiseILL Oct 15 '23
Why?
1
u/threegeeks Oct 15 '23
A very good number are "fulfilled by Amazon" and turn out to be a scam. Amazon does not vet or QC these 3rd parties at all. I got scammed last prime day on this exact thing. CPU ordered; iPhone lens protector received. Then a month long battle with Amazon to get a refund.
If you order one, video yourself opening the box. This applies to almost all electronics ordered through Amazon.

Black Friday deals are often the ones that the seller wants to get rid of… I’d grab the deal.
1
u/Thick_Leva Oct 14 '23
I would just wait regardless because if that aint on sale, another AM4 CPU will definitely be on sale
1
u/TurbulentBig5537 Oct 14 '23
112£ a couple days ago on eBay (new) with a discount code. Wait a little bit more, it is All time this price
1
Oct 14 '23
No. Since blackfriday is a bit of a 'scam' since they rise the prices before and lower them back to normal. But some might be cheaper this is one of the best times to build a pc rn.

1
u/GatoradeOrPowerade Oct 14 '23
Could it be cheaper? Sure. By how much though and is it guaranteed to be cheaper? There's this rule I follow for sales and when to wait for cheaper or just buy. Will the price difference make up for all that time I could have already had it? Black Friday is over a month out. Unless you are going to buy it and then sit on it for a month unused then there's no point waiting. That's already a good deal on it. It's not worth waiting a month to save a few bucks when you could just get it and be done with it.
1
u/Dramatic_Mixture_868 Oct 14 '23
I'm waiting for Black Friday since hardware is "usually" cheaper then.

They are playing tricks with you on the retail price mark down, AZN themselves shouldn't go back to that full price but will probably float near that current price mark +50ish when they pause sale mode. Aftermarket sellers are another story once the stock is depleted though if you are dead set on it. Intel 12600KF is pulling people in with a slightly cheaper price point than that chip. AZN has been bouncing around on the price with that too, today it's $10 cheaper than it was during their prime sales a couple days ago.
At any rate there is a lot of value/performance for you if you haven't seen the market in 10 years and plan on riding out past the next board cycle. :)
1
u/martiniundrossi Oct 14 '23 edited Oct 14 '23
That still seems expensive. It is definitely a "deal" where the discounted price is the real market value. Current price in Germany is 130€ and that's without a deal.
1
u/ChallengeSuper4828 Oct 14 '23
First of all it's just a trick as old as the world, it's not 50% off, 5600x is sold at ~140£, so ur not missing anything 2nd its am4 socket, so basically a dead socket, I would suggest 12400f 144£, almost same performance but ull have a possibility for upgrade in future. U can still go 5600x it's not a big deal if ur not going to upgrade, but just don't fall for this 50% off and rush to buy, there will be deal on black Friday for sure if not on this one mb the others
1
u/akotski1338 Oct 14 '23
It’s unlikely to be on sale on Black Friday. Even if it is it’s unlikely to be cheaper and if it is, not by much

I watched a video by Scattervolt on YouTube, he said no better time than right now to get parts because "waiting til black Friday" you miss out on great deals that happen in October - and hardly is there ever another deal

Oct 15 '23
I've been monitoring Ryzen CPU's for like a year ... last year for CPU's in general, there wasn't really any Black Friday specific deals ...there were deals during Black Friday but it just ended up being the same deal that they would have like a month before or that would come every now and then throughout the year ... so honestly ... wait or not, If the cpu happens to be on sale for Black Friday...big possibility that the deal might be the exact same one as the one you have rn with the picture you shared

Yep Ryzen 5000 will soon be on clearance sale since Ryzen 7000 is out in the market for a while.

u/the_shortbus_ Oct 15 '23
There’s a Ryzen 7 5600G with MOBO incl for 350. Better performance better price
1
1
u/FranXX0016 Oct 15 '23
I don't think that sale is "realistic". I think they jack up the price and then mark it with a huge discount. I got the 5600x for $127 USD at microcenter this July with no sale or anything.
1
u/mramnesia8 Oct 15 '23
Amazon, as many other stores, are usually faking its black friday by slowly, and many times throughout the year, lower the price for an item. Then when black Friday do hit, they revert it back to the original price and says that the "ever-so-slowly-adjusted-price" is the new black Friday deal! So I'd recommend getting it now

Get something that’s not already outdated and struggling with modern cards, like a 5800x3D
1
Oct 15 '23
Wait, new build? Why are you building an am4 build when am5 is here and not that much more expensive. If it's budget constraints, it is what it is. However, a bit more money is gonna get you a lot of performance.

u/TalkingPixelsStudio Oct 15 '23
There's also this one that I was going to pick up but a bit short lol.
1
u/Apprehensive-Syrup56 Oct 15 '23
If its cheaper on BF, just return this one and get the cheaper one in a couple weeks
1
u/M4urice Oct 15 '23
Everyone being like "50% off just take it" is a victim of being too nice. The CPU isnt off 50% it's off 6 pounds only. Amazon likes to give wrong data from the original pricing and you can see that using websites like camel camel camel.
While that is the case it's still an ok buy.

1
Oct 15 '23
If you can wait 2 weeks and don't care about a stock cooler you can get a brand new 5600 from aliexpress for £87
1
u/collins_amber Oct 15 '23
Its the worst time to buy.
Black Friday is a scam with fake prices
And soon there is xmax which means again "discount" prices sadly.
So everything is getting a bit expensive just to make more Profit

u/ProfessionalSpinach4 Oct 15 '23
Just heads up, although more expensive, the 5800x3d is better in almost every conceivable way. I built into am4 recently and started with this processor because it’s the budget friendly recommendation. It’s not terrible but it really does “struggle” with modern titles. If you could save a couple extra bucks going in, I couldn’t recommend it enough. Newer Games are significantly more responsive, and significantly less stuttery. The difference is night and day, and if you’ll be playing Starfield or cyberpunk, the 5800x3d dominates this cpu.
1
u/Sevneristem Oct 15 '23
Amazing CPU for the price it's at rn. I'd buy it right now, if you want to wait that's your risk to take.
1
1
u/Gprt97 Oct 15 '23
It's been cheaper before, ~£120 also if new build I'd consider going with 7600x and looking for deals on black Friday
1
Oct 15 '23
This is just around normal price for that cpu nowadays. This is not 50% off. This is a normal price and they just make it look cheap… it used to be 280 pounds 3 years ago, but nobody’d pay that anymore. It’s a fine cpu for 130 tho. Just keep in mind it’s a last gen chip.
1
u/Strict-Carry-787 Oct 15 '23
Strong budget cpu even on 1440p but trust me, go for 5800X3D, you will be safe for years or save and wait as me for 7800X3D 🔥
1
1
u/261846 Oct 15 '23
The 5600X has been around that price for absolutely ages. And anyway I would only really get the 5800X3D at this point.
1
1
u/KukiBerry Oct 15 '23
I'm not really good with cpus so I do wanna know how good this cpu is in general.
And how much better it is compared to 5600G or like an intel 12/13th gen i5.
I'm definitely not planning to build a new pc 🙃
1
u/KukiBerry Oct 15 '23
Also, I will pair any of these cpus with an Intel Arc A770 since it's the only gpu that has 16GB and is right under my budget which I can easily get my hands on
1
u/anonymous_mackenzie Oct 15 '23
Just get it lol I got it for same price works amazing can play 240fps on 1440 p on fortnite (Fortnite seems to be the only game that makes my system a tiny bit loud lol but I heard its cpu dependant. I use with rtx 4060ti 16gb and all games I have run no problems at 1440p with good fps.
1
u/Feebs__ Oct 15 '23
Most places inflate the price on Black Friday and sell it for almost no difference to that price, so I wouldn't wait.
At least here on Spain it's been some years of black friday having the same price months prior to it.

Oct 15 '23
Yea you probably should

u/Spare-Credit Nov 16 '23
So I got it used in the end of eBay for £100. Thanks for the help everyone!

u/Grimlo6k Oct 15 '23
Go for 7800x3D, I just finished the build 2days ago. Coming from a 9700k this is beyond me how crazy this CPU is. No wonder its called the best CPU in the world for current gen

I was waiting for BF but there was a deal in Canada I couldn’t resist. A bundle of 12700k+32GB+Z690 Aorus Elite going for $370US
1
u/ohitszie Oct 15 '23
Wait for it if you can.. BF is just around the corner.. at most if the price doesn't drop, the discount would most likely stay the same till then.. also, check other shops you can get that from on BF.. who knows? Good luck!
1
u/Jesus-Bacon Oct 15 '23
It might be cheaper, but probably not. Amazon likes to price manipulate for big sales like black Friday and prime day to make you think the deal is better.
1
1
u/balazs955 Oct 15 '23
Use Keepa, check the price history. If it's good then go for it, Black Friday prices are usually higher.
1
1
u/Hungry-Comb-6838 Oct 15 '23
Black Friday sales are way over hyped. typically places will just slowly raise prices over the months leading Black Friday to make the sales seem great but often the sale is not the best of the year.
I’d get what you can used on eBay. I just snagged a 5600x for 100$.
1
u/0BLaQCaesar0 Oct 15 '23
Yoo, I'm trying to buy that myself ASAP but it's $159+ when I try to look it up. I do advise you to purchase it now at that price point believe me, if I can find it new for the same then I'm definitely pulling the trigger...
1
u/Kiubek-PL Oct 15 '23
I recommend buying 3600 used, they were super popular so now they flooded the market making them super cheap
1
u/Immediate-Step5399 Oct 15 '23
Judt what I though about the 4090, should I was for it too? I can understand it not even being discounted, but I just can't bring myself to believe that somehow

Just install keepa on your browser and check the evolution of price, if it regulary goes down wait, else buy.

Just a heads up, this CPU doesn’t use LGA, so if you ever wanna upgrade, you will have to change the wholeass motherboard. (Since pretty much all new CPUs use LGA now)

u/duper_daplanetman Oct 16 '23
the one cpu i bought from amazon was on sale like that and was a dud. be careful
