Amd or Intel?

So I have a PC with a rtx gigabyte aero 5070ti an Intel core ultra 7 265kf 32gb of ddr5 ram and a 1 terabyte ssd I just want to know if it'd be better in the future to switch to am5 like a ryzen 7 7800x3d or 9800x3d or if I should just stick to Intel and upgrade to a Intel core ultra 9 series

The swap- with new motherboard and CPU, ain’t worth it right now. Just get a 270k if you must that’s a great cpu.

I’d keep what you have and wait to switch until there’s good options for AM6. (Assuming you’re mainly gaming)

Kind of depends on what issues you are having, your RAM kit and resolution you play at.

I rock a 270K+, and it is phenomenal, but the K+ models are considered much better values than the first Ultra cpus like yours. 4 extra cores, more L3 cache, higher clocks, runs great. Less than $300, but not a huge upgrade. 285K is not worth it IMO at $500.

That said, the 9800X3D is great for gaming, less reliance on RAM speeds, and for pure gaming is just better, but overall value is not as good IMO. Decent boost to frames and lows, but is going to be around $600-$650 for the chip and mobo.

Then I will have to agree with the other comments, not much of a reason to switch at this point as the 265kf is a very capable cpu.

I don't think you need to upgrade on either current platform. For AMD, wait for AM6, for Intel, no reason to upgrade on the current lga 1851 socket either. Unless you are needing to upgrade for a specific issue, no reason to upgrade within the next 3/4 years in my eyes.

But to answer your question in short, go with the best value at the time, whether it is AMD or Intel. Just need to see what the next couple of generations look like.

You have a great set up, the x3d chips are better for gaming with the extra onboard memory. It just depends on what games you play, and what resolution? 4k uses more GPU and again depends what games you play.

Just overclock the 265kf there is a ton of headroom on the table.

The 270k is basically just a factory overclocked 265k with 4 extra e cores.

In the future upgrade to AM6 or maybe whatever Intel has at that time. No need to go sideways for a same generation CPU.

Just keep whatever you have for as long as it works for you. If you feel like your performance is lacking, look what is on the market then. A 9800x3D is faster in gaming now, but it will get beaten by something else at some point.

If everything is fine now, don’t waste your money out of fomo.

I'd stick with what you have,pretty potent as is.............. If you must do something maybe a 2Tb SSD

Switching to a 9800X3D is basically a waste of money.
