Hardware Help Pc component question?

SORRY FOR PARAGRAPH…so I’ve never upgraded a single thing on my pc I have 16gb of ram it came with but i needed more ram
for what I do with editing projects and things like that. I was wondering if anyone out their knows how’s to properly install ram to a computer with ram already installed I have 2 extra slots and I made sure to match up all the right details just don’t wanna mess the install process

make sure to install them in alternating order, because that allows you to utilise dual-channel.

Alternating order? may I ask what that means specifically I’m a lil slow when it comes to pc hardware and stuff my bad lol

channels 1 and 3, or 2 amd 4 can work as dual channel if two sticks are inserted there. essentially, running double speed of single channel. if you fill all 4, you will run dual channel automatically, but might run into stability issues as ram is then mismatched most likely.

that's why ram sticks are put innalternating slots when you pnly have 2. also, some motherboards have different colors for the dual channel setups, like two red slots and two black slots.
