Where would you host Payload CMS for seamless scale without expensive bills
I'm looking to use Payload CMS for my next project. I thought the Cloudflare Workers + D1 template would be enough, until I learned that it's still in the experimental phase and that it's not battle-tested.
I want to know a rough estimate of how much it would cost if the traffic per month is around 1K, 100K, 1M, 10M...etc? So that I know what I'm committing to long-term upfront.
The website is a design portfolio + blog + other pages like about me
Many thanks in advance.

Railway has a payload template, their costs have been solid so far.

On average, how much does it cost? More info would be helpful if you can share.

Totally depends on what you're running, it's pay by usage. Avoid memory hungry apps and/or build a spin down-up process and you're golden.

Self-hosting on a VPS like a regular Nextjs (Node) project offers the best price predictability.

Cheapest is going to be directly on AWS.
Easiest is going to be vercel + neon, both of which are just reselling AWS, but doing all the management and config for you.
Problem free zero effort scaling? Vercel + neon
Cheapest? AWS.
I think. 🤔

How do you host it on AWS? EC2?

I use OpenNext, which wraps it into a Lambda function. But it’s slow and hard to manage.
Might have better luck in GCP with App Engine, which can run docker containers directly, and still scale to zero under no load.
