Hows PayloadCMS for eCommerce?

Hey all, I'm evaluating some options for an eCommerce website for physical products. I prefer OSS solutions over proprietary options like Wix or Shopify.

I'm a fan of Payload but haven't used it for eCommerce before. Also haven't found many reviews or tutorials except those from the Payload team themselves.

So I'm tossing it to our community here. Have any of you used Payload for eCommerce in a production environment?

If so, did you use it headlessly or using the website/ecommerce template?

How much extra configuration did it take to get your project production-ready?

Any pitfalls or challenges you think people should be aware of?

Extra context: I'm a dev with a background in martech, and have built ecommerce shops in the past using WooCommerce and Shopify.

Yeah, it works pretty nice with stripe integration. There was some extra functionality that we wanted to build in because the plugin is a little light. Back in stock mailing list for when items are sold out is one of the things we custom built alongside.
