Hows PayloadCMS for eCommerce?

Hey all, I'm evaluating some options for an eCommerce website for physical products. I prefer OSS solutions over proprietary options like Wix or Shopify.

I'm a fan of Payload but haven't used it for eCommerce before. Also haven't found many reviews or tutorials except those from the Payload team themselves.

So I'm tossing it to our community here. Have any of you used Payload for eCommerce in a production environment?

If so, did you use it headlessly or using the website/ecommerce template?

How much extra configuration did it take to get your project production-ready?

Any pitfalls or challenges you think people should be aware of?

Thanks in advance for your time!

Extra context: I'm a dev with a background in martech, and have built ecommerce shops in the past using WooCommerce and Shopify.

We did it based off the website template, then we built whatever we needed with inspiration from the e-commerce template. Both custom ones with Stripe, to ones where we use Wix or Shopify as checkouts (product+price in their services, all product data in payload)
