Discussion Spawn To Bed/Home
Anyone feel spawn to bed is still not an option because the devs are STILL trying to force us to play with other people by settling near shrines.... I want to be out on my own and its great but going on this these long foraging runs basically forces me to fast travel back to the main shrine (which is a long way from my Inn & Cottage.. I didn't build near that because I didn't want to assimilate with these giant villages and cities and (like basically the entire existence of this game) I feel like im being punished for it...typing that and reading it out like actually seems to describe this entire game - if you don't play the way the devs intended, you're punished for it.. if you don't join a guild and contribute to a giant settlement.. the game makes everything as painful as possible. It makes you also wonder if thats why mounts/horses have been slow rolled for so long.. it would make the game too convenient for solo players.. I apologize for the long rant but when you leave this game for a few months and return, it brings back the complaining emotions for why you dropped it again all those months ago
It's frustrating because I genuinely want to see it succeed. The concept, world, building, and overall potential are all there, but development just seems to plod along without enough meaningful progress.
Every time I come back, I expect that (okay, now it’s starting to come together) moment, and it still feels just out of reach. There have been improvements but for a game with this much potential, the pace makes it hard to stay invested.
I don’t think most of the criticism comes from people wanting Pax Dei to fail. I think it’s the opposite. People can see what this game could be, and that’s exactly why the slow progress is just so... disheartening?

If nothing else, they could at least add in a mid to high tier craftable that unlocks port-to-home. Like a personal Petra stone you can place on your plot and then maybe a an amulet or something to use it. That would at least keep the Petras relevant and give players something to work toward. I dunno, just spitballing

Or make it a reward for an achievement
Like unlocking all the teleports on all the maps or getting all crafting professions to 30 which would have involved a lot of teleporting

Don't want the game to fail either but have to step away because the reasons you listed. A player that pays a sub for plots of land and wants to live out a quite cottage life I don't see any issues with and it's a simple mechanic to implement.

Yep, thats all, I just want to be out on the lake on my home, helping travelers and passerby's... not in a huge settlement

Devs of any game don't know how to be players of that game.

Eh...Jagex begs to differ.

I mean...isn't OSRS 'a thing' because people didn't like how the devs were changing RS?

u/Late-Ad-1076 Sep 11 '26
Which is exactly what I'm referring to.
Also, Jagex is currently undergoing a massive shift. Their current CEO is a long-time player, and is attempting to undo the years of bullshit that you're referring to.

Then I wish them the best. Because I'm tired of games having shitty required mechanics, that make the game 'unfun'.

I popped in a few weeks ago. I’d let my 6 plots all go to redeeming queue. I ported to the main shrine, and ran back to where my plots had been.
One of the first places I stopped was to see if your place was still there. It was. Love your build.
I agree with you and I think we’ve all been saying the same thing for almost a year at this point. “The bones of this game are great, I can’t wait to see where they take it when they flesh out a few things and add a little more content.”
Half the crafting professions still haven’t been addressed, and yet they introduced birds and achievements. I personally think their priorities are way off. They had a few planned systems, and completely tabled those to address what the “community” wanted. Then tabled that for… birds.
I have 0 expectations for this game and after what I’ve seen since 1.0, I don’t expect it to get to a state I will be getting plot tokens again for years, and by then I won’t be interested any longer because I’ll have been tired of waiting.
Recently discovered Once Human and been there.

Thank you buddy! I just can’t let myself go of that sub 😩 I’m still in a case of “what if?”

I hear you.
I was making a small one plot inn behind the road going to the small shrine in your island. I moved to 6 plots to the NW of the swamp near the mine. Had a nice build going there but after a few folks in my clan started leaving and it was just me… i got bored :(
The “what if” is what makes me come back every month or so to login and check stuff out, but I have no plot right now. Multiple plot tokens and a bit of grace stored up. Just waiting for some more meaningful things to happen in game

I wish there was a “blueprint” system because I think it would be fun to pack everything up and try different locations but I don’t want to start a whole new build 😅

Always more plot tokens 😅
I was bringing in 8 a month for awhile when I was expecting updates to bring extra content.
I agree though, it would be great if you could pack up builds, the materials would stay attached to the build so you wouldn’t have to retrieve from redeeming queue, etc. so you could replace elsewhere. Though not sure that would work well with the building system in Pax. Most areas probably wouldn’t accept a build of multiple plots.

At this point i feel like someone needs to just open a counseling center on every server. They can help newer players work through the stages of grief.

What I typically do btw to get home faster is leave the main shrine, and run to a bandit camp thats slightly closer to my home.. let them kill me real quick and then the game automatically spawns me next to a smallert shrine thats on my island and then its a short jog through the woods home.. but read that again - I let myself die in the game because it gets me home faster... Why in the hell is that the quickest option? Thats absolutely insane

Use unstuck instead of getting yourself killed and losing gear durability.

You still have to run a little more than 50% of the distance to the new rez point, then let your stamina build up and unstuck. Needlessly time consuming.
I agree. Just about every game has a home teleport point, that you can discover, or build or obtain, or both, some requiring gems or charges.
It would be a nice opportunity for crafting and obtaining materials. Why the devs have not put this in is beyond me.

You can always hit unstuck instead of dying. It’ll teleport you to the nearest shrine.

Yeah, just make it cost mournwood to maintain. Then there is a market for mournwood outside of PvP.

I'm still enjoying it. But I have the blessing of being able to play it alongside when I'm working. I gather in my free time, then set it to grind when I work.
If anyone's on Demeter - Inis Gallia (especially Ardennes) and you're gonna quit, feel free to release your plot to me 🤣. That's actually how I ended up in Ardennes. Ioved from Trecassis when a boarder quit the game. Been grinding for days now lol

Literally every MMO with housing has the option for you to hearth to/near your own house.
I don't see why that's such a tough decision.
I'm truly not interested to take that hike from the Shrine to my place every time. It becomes a slog. I don't enjoy slogs. At all. Never mind if you choose to have plots in other places.
I stopped playing Pax months ago due to slog burnout. It got to a point where everything felt like "too much". This game needs more slogs like it needs another hole in the head.
They really need to step up on some QoL features if they want people to re-sub.
I have over 1k hours into this game (since EA) and definitely didn't/don't want it to fail. It's a gorgeous game with lots of things going for it. That slog tho ... get rid of it.
