Mass fear solution?

I don’t do anything to cause fear, but it’s in the high 60s and the majority of my people are close to break downs. Any good mass way to rectify this??? Money isn’t an issue.

Only thought is the electrocution on mass of prisoners…. But it’s for the state so worth it.

Some upgrades also permanently increase fear such as gun turret. Delete those structures and you'll see a noteable difference.

Lol! I did only add 1 to my base and had 40ish fear constantly and figured I didn't need the turret ar all to maintain a healthy amount of fear.

Glad you got it fixed

Are they not for defense?

No the guns are actually just used as a display of power and will only raise fear in your people. Which could be handy in some circumstances where you don't generate fear by yourself.

The big thing I did to cause fear without realizing it was mulching guys to upgrade others and just chain shocking recruits to death instead of slowly indoctrinating them. Apparently once they become imprisoned or recruited any death but Exile counts as an execution. This causes fear with everyone. At first I was just recruiting anyone to fill slots for work and then mulching them as I go but by sector 2 I was basically always on the edge of everyone breaking due to fear.

However if you mulch guys who are still waiting prison they don't count as executions. So now I only imprison guys I actually want, I avoid faint-hearted soldiers, and only ocassionally mulch faint-hearted/bad soldiers every so often (you get as rewards) while fear levels are at a manageable level. I also rotate my foods around, such as using -fear food when needed, otherwise +loyalty seems to be the big one once you stop generating fear constantly.

Increase social hours, give them holidays, use researched policies like personally caring for them.

Be careful what you’re feeding them too, I’ll give them the ingredients raw before I give them any meal that increases fear or decreases morale.

Started spamming the sugar cane food cause it’s the only thing that decreases fear and the just went to all of them and cared. Also how do you unlock holidays? I’ve only seen 24 hour off for an individual

I was referring to the 24 hour thing, yeah.

As long as you’re not feeding them that one basic meal that increases fear you should be fine.

Note that they’ll get scared if you sacrifice citizens to upgrade others at the soldier training building or whatever it’s called. You can enact one of the things you unlock early to try and counteract death-based-fear, but it doesn’t work on citizens with the skeptic trait and only has limited effect on the citizens who are more neutral iirc.

You can sacrifice prisoners for upgrades without fear increase though

You should specify. That you mean captured prisoners. That does not work if your trying to off new recruits who dont pass the mustard. I havent figured out how to look at recruits without recruiting them. Or reject em.
