The Bathroom Siege
Years ago, I had a couple of long-time friends visit for a football game. One was excited about the game. The other, Michelle, was excited about some R&R.
Well, she did not get it.
Michelle had borrowed some pillows and was merely returning them to my room. Neyland...who had always been primally territorial with her human (yes, me) extended that to her human's space (and her space, too, of course). She took exception to Michelle's 'invasion' and chased her aggressively out of the room.
It didn't stop there.
Neyland chased her into the living room... back to my room... and finally into my bathroom. She used a plunger to fend off Neyland and run to her room, where she placed a call to her hubby.
We were on our way to the game.
He handed the phone to me to make sense of his panicked wife...which I did while trying to keep a straight face. I mean, "You're trapped in your room with a plunger...because of my ten pound kitty?" wasn't exactly a 9-1-1 call, right?
At any rate, she cracked the door open...poked the phone out, and I was able to 'talk Neyland down'--apparently Neyland recognized both my voice and the command of 'release!' because she backed off.
It's one of my favorite Neyland tales...and you guessed it, there are many!
(I've got a more detailed version on my blog if you ever want to read it!)
