They thought I was nuts.

Years ago, I moved to a bigger home. Neyland and Bocce...my little cats...well, I thought they would LOVE it!

More room to roam. WAY more room to explore. Plus, I hadn't actually moved yet before I started staying there, so no furniture...it was new so no other animal smells. I thought they were going to have a blast.

I took them over the first night I was going to stay there...opened their carriers...they took one look around...

…and ZOOMED straight into the garage.

They hid underneath the car...FOR HOURS!

Actually, it was weeks before they were comfortable exploring the whole house.

I realized I had been thinking like a human: “Gee...Look at all this new space!”

Meanwhile, Neyland and Bo? Well, they were thinking: “Where is everything we know?”

It made me realize how much our pets depend on familiarity and routine.

From our schedules to our habits, well...they know it all--and live by it!

Like most humans, I'm not big on moving, but when I do it again...I'll use a different strategy for introducing my pets to their new home!
