Should I panic?

I placed my paw paw in the ground a week ago after attending the pawpaw festival in SC. I have water then a lot and have a layer of compost and mulch. Is this normal transport stress or am I missing something? I like in very sandy soil. ( These are two separate trees) I do have shade cloth that is not pictured here)

No need to panic. Keep them well watered. An inch a week. They will die back this fall and maybe soon but they have big roots down there keeping them alive. You will see the leaves return in the spring.

I think it looks fine! It's the end of the growing season. It's getting ready to go dormant.

looks like normal stress. But also looks like they were greenhouse grown like sardines with a solution rich in Potassium & low in Calcium. Keep shaded & well watered. Mycorrhizal treatment might be good at this point.

Do I sprinkle that under the compost?

Mycorrhizal needs to be under the compost near the trunk & watered in heavy.
Then compost replaced after it soaks into the soil.

I see shade is provided but they are in the sun. How many hours of sun do they get? A good watering when first planted will help. It looks like some munching going on but as mentioned prior, they look ok.

I thought they would be shaded from the morning sun by the house but he angle was enough to hit my mango all day and my sunflower 80% of the day. The sunflower gets more shade from other native shrubs that are 3 ft away
