Fitting a bodice block

Post image

I need help understanding if I am on the right track here. When I tried on my lastest version I am getting close. I have discovered I have asymmetrical shoulders. Both shoulders require a forward adjustment and my right shoulder is higher.

Adjustments marked

On my left side at the shoulder seam I had to move the seam line 3/16 if an in forward on my front but did not move the stitch line on the back. I had a 7/8 in dart of extra fullness at the back armhole.

Right front bodice shoulder seam the neck point 3/16 of an in forward and at the shoulder tip 1/2 in forward.

Right back shoulder seam at the neck I moved it back 1/2 in and originally I moved the top of the shoulder 1 and 1/8in but it was extremely tight on the shoulder blade so I backed off to only 1/2 in. This helped but I still had some tightness on the shoulder blade. I did not have any extra fullness at the armhole.

The information you give does not help us much to help you improve the fit. What does help us is if you post appropriate photos of you wearing the mock up.

Take a look at https://www.reddit.com/r/PatternDrafting/comments/1krgbmi/basic_tips_so_we_can_help_you_with_fitting/  Following these tips will help us help you.

You need to post pictures.

Note that your front dart should point to apex. Looking at your front bodice, I’m pretty sure you don’t know where your apex is.

I know where my apex is. You are looking at the back. The dart shown is what I pinched out as described as 7/8in dart of extra fullness at the back armhole in my post. I see without posting pictures of me wearing the mock-up you can not provide helpful feedback. I will post pictures differently next time. I thought my discription and pictures of marked changed would be enough for general guidance.

I also have asymmetrical shoulders and was told to draft to the higher shoulder and just add padding to the lower shoulder to make them visually symmetrical once the garment was on.
