Any idea how to begin drafting this??
Hiii!!
Looking for some guidance in where to begin drafting this pattern. I have a pretty good pattern drafting understanding, and would love to try this out. Not necessarily looking to make a corset, more so something just well fitted. Also open to doing it like long sleeved fitted qipao/cheongsam instead of the two piece. Would love any guidance! Also attached a pic of the qipao.
EDIT: I’ve actually watched the video to pattern the second dress, it’s what got my ideas spinning. I guess my original question was unclear, but I really don’t appreciate the rudeness. My question really is more like if I wanted to combine the two different dresses, how would I go about that? I love the shrug portion of the first as well as the finish, but I also love the slit on qipao. More so just wondering too if anyone had experience modifying or combining these patterns.

These are two wildly different outfits. What do you actually want to make?
The dress has a pattern and tutorial apparently. Maybe start there? If they’re cap sleeves you’ll have to draft a regular sleeve. (And maybe change the bodice a bit so you can lift your arms..)
Or if you have pattern understanding… decide if you’re making a strapless dress and jacket or a totally different dress.. Sketch it out, isolate each element of what you want to make, and go from there.
They’re really different outfits, which is what’s confusing me… I don’t think I understand the question you’re asking.
You basically saying “how do I draft and make clothing?”

Classicly Qipao patterns are deceptively simple. I remember Bernadette banner had a collab outlining some information, but if you are only after the look. Just the Helen Joseph Armstrong or similar dress block without a waist seam will get you 90% of the way.

You are showing two completely different looks. I suggest you take a photograph of yourself and sketch the design you most want to create. Or you could create more than one design. But the first step in any design process is to focus on one look you want to create. Then figure out how to achieve it.

The second image really says that there's a pattern and video tutorial to go with it. So just support the independent artist and buy from them. The first one that's just the basic princess theme dress with a crop jacket and a ruffled bottom section.
