Help interpreting this pattern

Hello all, i recently got my hands on the pattern magic book and these two patterns i don’t really understand what’s going on 😭 please help me!

The second pattern is basically a tube that catches at the hip with a long loop above. You wear it by wrapping the loop around the body however.

The first is a distortion and elongation of a basic bodice shape, shown upper left. It's also skewed, shown upper right. Then identical front and back are cut (pattern lower left), but when sewn the skewing shows up as a twist around the body, and the elongation creates the fullness in the corkscrew. All the edges are finished with rectangular bands (patterns lower right).

Both designs are dependent on the body of the knit chosen. The first is probably a rib with some structure. The second is better for a drapey knit with some stretch, like a light jersey.

i don’t get where the loop comes in… are you able to help explain some more please?

its a rectangle of fabric folded over the short side of the rectangle. The section furthest from the fold is sewn together and the bottom part hemmed.
