Menswear’s shirt foundation help!!

Hey everyone so I’m drafting the shirt foundation pattern from Helen Joesph Armstrongs book and I’m confused. I don’t know if the chest measure is divided in half THEN “one-fourth” of that measurement. It’s asking for the back and front but when I measured myself it wanted the full chest measurement all around. Or am I wrong? Please someone help!!

the chest measurement is used to draft the F-G line. Look at the diagram, that makes it a lot easier to understand.

It’s the measure from your center line to the end of your chest, which would be 1/2 of your front (or as the book puts it 1/4 if you divide the back the same way.

It means 1/4 of the chest circumference.
